Превод
To ask for her hand
I'm going to ask for her hand,
as love needs to be fed,
I'm going to cut a bunch of clouds
to soak her love,
I'm going to go down the village
riding a silk palm
I'm going to paint the springs
with sky blue oils,
I'm going to light your affection
like a firefly in the sea
and I'm going to make you a bridal gown
with banana leaves
He's coming to ask for my hand, he's coming
let's play some sticks
so that he loves me forever,
so that his love is true, oh!
so that he loves me!
He's coming to ask for my hand, he's coming
let's play some sticks
so that he loves me forever
so that I can be happy (?)
so that he loves me!
he's coming to ask for my hand, he's coming
And when I have your permission
I'm going to fly north to south
to search, on top of the pine tree,
the nest that you want
I'm going to light your affection
like a firefly in the sea
and I'm going to make you a bridal gown
with banana leaves
And caress you in the morning
and tuck you with the sun
and undress the berry shrubs
so as to feed our love
He's coming to ask for my hand, he's coming
Let's play some sticks
so that he loves me forever
so that his loves is true, oh!
so that he loves me!
He's coming to ask for my hand, he's coming
Let's play some sticks
so that he loves me forever
So that I can be happy
so that he loves me!
He's coming to ask for my hand,
hear it!

Note: it's a bit difficult to translate because it contains some local words of the Dominican Republic (I'm Spanish). Note that the 'song narrator' alternates between the male and the female lover. "Los Yayales", as I have researched, is the name of a village in the Dominican Republic. "Guandú" or "gandul" is a kind of berry shrub. I don't understand very well the phrase "prender mi lucero", literally "light my star", I think it means so that she's happy / lucky, unless there is a local meaning that I can't catch (maybe something related to the wedding or bridal gown?)
