Случилось так, что небо
было синее, бездонное,
И лёгкий ветер по морю
гнал мелкую волну.
И был корабль полон
и друзьями, и знакомыми,
и путь держал в далёкую страну.
И капитан был опытный,
и все моря проплавал.
Он силы был недюженой -
дубы вылил плечом.
И нам казалось - много нас,
мы сильные и храбрые,
и никакая буря нипочём,
Но что для моря наш корабль -
скорлупка несерьёзная.
И вот однажды вечером
попали мы в туман,
средь неба грянул гром,
собрались тучи грозные,
пронёсся средней силы ураган,
И вот что удивительно -
все сильные и храбрые,
и все, кому мы верили,
воскликнули: -"Тону!"
Мы ждали от них помощи,
они же нас оставили
и первыми отправились ко дну,
А нас носило по морю,
надежды наши таяли,
и только по случайности
нас приняла земля.
И те из нас, что выжили,
по разным обстоятельствам
забыли капитана корабля...

The Captain
It happened like this: the sky
Was blue as far as the eye could see.
A light sea breeze
Created a small wave.
The ship was full
Of friends and acquaintances,
And on course to a distant land.
The captain was experienced,
He'd sailed all the seas.
He was unbelievably strong,
He could push oaks over with a shoulder.
To all of us, we thought, we are many,
And strong and brave.
There was no storm we could not handle.
For the sea, however, our ship was
Something insignificant.
And then one evening
We ended up in fog.
In the heavens thunder rang out.
Threatening clouds gathered,
A hurricane of medium strength was upon us.
And then something surprising happened.
All those strong, brave men,
The ones we were counting on,
Shouted out: "I'm drowning!"
We were expecting help from them,
But they abandoned us,
And were the first to head for the bottom.
We were tossed about by the sea,
Our hopes were fading,
When for no known reason,
We ended up on dry land.
And those of us who survived,
Also for no particular reason,
Totally forgot about the ship's captain.
