Bolivian Wail

They want to work me up,
they incite me to yell.
I’m like a rock,
words don’t touch me.
There’s a volcano inside
that will soon erupt.
I want to be calm.

My situation is
an enormous affliction.
I’m like a wail,
a Bolivian wail. (1)

That one day began
and won’t ever stop
and hurts no one.

And I am here
drunk and crazy.
And my idiot heart
will always shine. (2)
And I will love you,
I’ll love you forever.
Baby, don’t comb your hair on the bed
or the travelers will be delayed. (3)

1. The noun "lamento," as it is used here, refers to the sound someone makes when they're physically or emotionally hurt.
2. This is the literal translation of this line, although I think its (Argentinian) Spanish meaning has another connotation.
3. The last two lines, according to some sources on the Internet, refers to an old folk legend from the Andes mountains. It claimed that if a woman combed her hair while on her bed, the boats that were supposed to arrive to the local harbor would be late.
