Downtown

A ella le gusta cuando bajo downtown

En su cuerpo puedo ver la definición
Se ve que lo trabaja eres motivación
Le pedí que me ayude con una misión
Que me llene entera de satisfacción

A mí me gusta cuando baja downtown
Le pido que se quede ahi enviciado'
Me dice baby, estoy interesao’
Si quieres ven y quédate otro round
A ella le gusta cuando bajo downtown
Me pide que me quede hoy enviciado'
Le digo uh mami, estoy interesao’
Si quieres yo me quedo pa’ otro round

Que me quede otro round
tanto que me ha rogado
Ya lo tengo oficiado
Yo te observado
No aguanta se adapta me dice
No quiero que termines
Es un misterio pero no de cine
En la noche soy yo la que define
Todo lo que va a pasar
A mi no me tienes que mandar

A mí me gusta cuando baja downtown
Le pido que se quede ahi enviciado’
Me dice baby, estoy interesao’
Si quieres ven y quédate otro round
A ella le gusta cuando bajo downtown
Me pide que me quede hoy enviciado'
Le digo uh mami, estoy interesao’
Si quieres yo me quedo pa’ otro round

Me dice baby, estoy interesao’
Si quieres ven y quédate otro round
A mí me gusta cuando baja downtown
Le pido que se quede enviciado'
Me dice baby, estoy interesao’
Si quieres ven y quédate otro round

People who translate this song might want to take in consideration that 'downtown' can be a metaphorical reference to making oral sex... Devil smile

Radu RobertRadu Robert    الجمعة, 24/11/2017 - 22:56

:))) Funny and yes i think it also has some "deep" meaning in it Regular smile

Alma BarrocaAlma Barroca    الجمعة, 24/11/2017 - 22:57

I've seen some news talking about this hidden, dirty innuendo found in the lyrics, but as I don't know Spanish enough, I can't judge. But its makes sense Tongue smile

roster 31roster 31    الثلاثاء, 28/11/2017 - 15:33

I said earlier that this song is not of my interest but, I also said that i would read the results.
Aside from the innuendos that you mention, the lyrics don't make much sense to me and I won't get involved, I just want to make a suggestion, and indicate a couple grammatical mistakes:
1. The second verse, "Se ve que lo trabajo eres motivación", I think that a comma after 'trabajo' would make the idea more clear and, since the stanza is in third person, why "eres"? Couldn't it be "es"?
2. Third stanza, "tanto que me a rogado" --> "tanto que me ha rogado" (verbo 'haber')
3. Next line, "Yo te observado" --> "Yo te he observado".
4. Sixth (long stanza), "No se vale" Do they say "No SE vale"? Because the correct form would be "No vale".

A question:
Obviously there are two persons involved here. Is that why one speaks with the -ao' ending, and the other says, correctly, " rogado, oficiado", etc.?
On the stanzas that both of then intervene, could that be indicated, or divade the stanzas in two (four verses each?

Well, I have said enough.

Best regards and good wishes to both of you.

1 Because that sentence is that way and they (Anitta here ) sing it that way i can't add words that aren't there especially to the source Lyrics
2 Done !
3 Same as point one listen to the audio there isn't any "he" it's Anitta singing there
4 Yes

5 yes you have said enough , that wasn't necessary here in this case
Also more simple and to be clear it's quite simple and i don't need any more arguments, as the lyrics are also added in the description of the official video and can be also checked there , and i think that if they added them that way there isn't any mistake or a need to change something 'cause if they who made the song don't know the lyrics than who knows it better? Also yes it's pretty obvious that there are two persons there singing anitta and j balvin and that's the reason why verbs are finishing in different forms (feminin and masculin diferentiating the monologue and dialogue.. ) As for the stanzas where both intervine it's quite simple and i don't see a reason to divide them the audio says it all ... Yeah i said enough ...

roster 31roster 31    الأربعاء, 29/11/2017 - 15:18

Seems to me that the argument went on for quite a while, 'and the beat goes on':
I think the lyrics are according to the video in which, as I said before, the Spanish is not very good.
And, let me tell you, the verb endings don't go by 'feminine/masculine' forms, that applies to nouns and adjectives. I have seen the indication of who is singing some where else. Here:
https://www.foreveryonenow.com › Anitta (with mistakes in the lyrics, as well).

Yes, you said more than enough 'that wasn't necessary here in this case'.(considering I tried to help you)
And still it is "yo te HE observado", a non corrected serious mistake.

Radu RobertRadu Robert    الأربعاء, 29/11/2017 - 15:41

I tought you're not interested and didn't like this song as you've told me, and you also said you're not interested in this song so why bother to lecture me ? I think my argument stands and like i've said i can't add words that aren't there the lyrics are how they are and they've also been added in the official video i guess that the people who added them are not familliar with spanish ? Funny 'cause they're the one who sing this song , what argument you want more .. I don;t want this to go on and on without any reason so thanks for your time. And by the way i've consulted with some others native from spain and they have said that the lyrics are weird yes but as they're now they are pretty ok They may also sound different 'cause of the audio and if i remember well Anitta is from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil so yeah...As you see i'm not native or even fluent in Spanish but i try to learn and i care that's why i've talked with people and i've asked for help some of them..regarding this translation..

roster 31roster 31    الأربعاء, 29/11/2017 - 17:25

Excuse me, but I don't lecture any one and, that's true, I am not interested in this song, that's why I didn't take part in the long discussion, I'm just trying to correct a grammatical mistake, and the 'he' is there. As I told you, she is joining "yo te'e".

Good-bye, Robert, and better luck to you.

Ivan Ortiz Jr.Ivan Ortiz Jr.    الثلاثاء, 28/11/2017 - 17:35

The song actually says, 'Se ve que lo trabaja, eres motivación.'
Anitta is singing here about J. Balvin.

roster 31roster 31    الثلاثاء, 28/11/2017 - 17:45

Precisely, because she talks about him, it should be "es motivación" or "es su motivación".

Ivan Ortiz Jr.Ivan Ortiz Jr.    الثلاثاء, 28/11/2017 - 17:48

Right! I'm aware of the grammatical rule, but the line I wrote is what Anitta sings.

roster 31roster 31    الثلاثاء, 28/11/2017 - 17:31

Robert,
"no te HE observado" is like above "me HA rogado": verbo auxiliar 'haber' along with the past participle to form the near past. It doesn't sound because the word before ends in 'e' and she joins the two. Besides, she speaks poor Spanish, and has a heavy accent.

Radu RobertRadu Robert    الثلاثاء, 28/11/2017 - 17:56

Done ! you're right it's the verb Enviciado'

roster 31roster 31    الثلاثاء, 28/11/2017 - 17:55

Finally somebody told me what " envenciao’" meant!

Gracias, Noura.

Ivan Ortiz Jr.Ivan Ortiz Jr.    الثلاثاء, 28/11/2017 - 18:04

Una letra de diferencia, ¡quema mucho el fuego! Aunque aquí no está claro el aspecto lingüístico de cómo la gente lo habla en regiones, se debería de haber señalado con un apóstrofe: envicia'o, roga'o, interesa'o y así.

Ivan Ortiz Jr.Ivan Ortiz Jr.    الثلاثاء, 28/11/2017 - 20:00

I think Alma Barroca wants to know what 'enviciado/envicia'o' means.

Am I correct, Alma Barroca?

Alma BarrocaAlma Barroca    الثلاثاء, 28/11/2017 - 23:15

Yes, as I didn't translate that word in my translation.

MusuneeMusunee    الثلاثاء, 28/11/2017 - 23:34

You see, when someone stays all day long playing video games or whatever everyday because the game is soooo good they are self absorbed in it, we say (at least in Mexico) "está enviciado" or "de vicio". So, you know, she is asking him to "quedarse enviciado" in her "downtown".

"Vicio" means vice/bad habit/obsession and it applies to several contexts, but in this case, she just doesn't want him to stop.

Ivan Ortiz Jr.Ivan Ortiz Jr.    الثلاثاء, 28/11/2017 - 23:39

Yaaaas!
Love your explanation!

My mom is always complaining about my brothers, she's always like, '¡Y estos están en el puro vicio todo el día!'

MusuneeMusunee    الثلاثاء, 28/11/2017 - 23:50

Seré como tus hermanos la próxima semana. Compré una computadora nueva, estaré de vacaciones~ ¡así que a darle al vicio todo el día!

"Me quedaré ahí envicia'a"

Radu RobertRadu Robert    الثلاثاء, 28/11/2017 - 23:39

Could this also be like i've understand it as to " i ask him to remain/stay focused on me" in an english meaning

MusuneeMusunee    الثلاثاء, 28/11/2017 - 23:45

Well... I'm not sure about the "stay focused" part (because it doesn't necessarily need to "be focused" on it... he just needs to keep doing what he's doing), but I'm okay with the "remain" one, that's about the same meaning in this context.

Radu RobertRadu Robert    الثلاثاء, 28/11/2017 - 23:59

A mí me gusta cuando baja downtown I like it when he goes into "downtown"(Anita sings here about Him )
"Le pido que se quede ahi enviciado'" I've asked him to remain his priority/ or "to focus on me also "to caress for me" would fit here which means what you;ve said to take "care" of her :)))

MusuneeMusunee    الأربعاء, 29/11/2017 - 00:10

"Le pido que se quede ahí enviciado'"

This sentence is in present, so maybe you should change the "I've asked him..." to "I ask him..."

I think you're going for and interpretation rather than a literal translation right? Because literally I'd translated it as "I ask him to remain there" and that's it, but it losses some of its meaning, so... Maybe it could be "I ask him to keep/remain caressing me" If you want to include the word "caressing" there.

Radu RobertRadu Robert    الأربعاء, 29/11/2017 - 00:23

"Le pido que se quede " "I ask him to keep " but what about the "ahí enviciado'" - caressing me Regular smile
And yes yo le pido "i ask" it's a present sentence ...and i think that this song can't be translated in a literall way considering all the "baja downtown" :Que me llene entera de satisfacción" the sah-mate verse :))

Alma BarrocaAlma Barroca    الجمعة, 01/12/2017 - 21:15

Honestly, I would never think of that :p

Thanks for the help, I'll add it to my translation now.

Ivan Ortiz Jr.Ivan Ortiz Jr.    الثلاثاء, 28/11/2017 - 20:24

The way I grew up using the word, and considering that the song is about sex, it would be something like:
'I want him to always want more of me.'
or
'I want him to become addicted to giving me pleasure.'
Something along those lines.
What does it mean to you?

Llegó Dolor Del CorazónLlegó Dolor Del Corazón    الثلاثاء, 28/11/2017 - 22:13

My opinion is not that different from yours, add to *addicted* strung out or hooked as I Indicated them in my translation

Radu RobertRadu Robert    الخميس, 14/12/2017 - 22:46

I myself in my romanian translation i've perceived that considering the prevoius sentence "
A mí me gusta cuando baja downtown I like it when he gets (down) into "downtown"
Le pido que se quede ahi enviciado'" I ask him to remain/stay "focused" it's the most ok word but focused on what , we don't know very well :)) or we know :)) it's a sexual meaning here or considering the video just her (Anitta) who tells him to be focused on what the "job" and to remain concentrate on

Radu RobertRadu Robert    الثلاثاء, 28/11/2017 - 23:16

in my opinion "focused or "to stay concentrate" it's the meaning of that sentence She (Anitta) says it after the first sentence "I like it when he gets into "Downtown"
I ask him to remain/stay concentrate

Llegó Dolor Del CorazónLlegó Dolor Del Corazón    الثلاثاء, 28/11/2017 - 22:25

@roster 31 can I ask you something about the verb Juqueado does it exist en the Spanish language I already looked It up but couldn't find any result about it till I accidently read the artist page on Facebook saying that JUQUEAR means *enganchar* then I watched the transcription subtitles in the video to find out that the Puerto Rican artist says (me tyenes hookao') so is it a new word or merely a play on the english word *hooked*

roster 31roster 31    الثلاثاء, 28/11/2017 - 22:51

That word doesn't exist in Spanish. It is, as you said, from the word 'to hook': English influence.
