Hi

I'd like to add pictures to collections and artists.

All I have is the Microsoft snipping tool and Microsoft Paint.

Could someone pls advise me?

How, for example, do I get the pixel size down to the maximum?

Thanks!!

My advice would be to install IrfanView or Gimp Regular smile
I have no idea how to use the softwares you mentioned.

Paint is more of a toy than a useful tool, in my opinion.

Personally I find Gimp's interface rather unintuitive and cumbersome, but that's free software and it certainly can do simple jobs like resizing a picture and saving it.

Here is a tutorial that might help you getting started.

This being said, you might not even need to use a specific software. You can save pictures directly to your hard drive from your browser (there will be an option to do so when you right-click on them), and upload them to LT later.

One needn't even save them on the computer - specifying the URL is enough for uploading artist pictures here.
However, of course only if the file isn't too large. If it is, you need to use some software to resize it.

I think LT handles the resizing automatically, at least for avatars. Not sure that works for artist pictures though.

I tried several avatars and got the "that's too large, make it smaller" error message.

Right now I'm stuck with a library computer, so I'll experiment with URLs and possibly Paint.

Hopefully I can get my own computer soon and get appropriate software.

Here is another resize tutorial using Paint.

Oh, how kind, thank you!!

And thanks to all of you!

I can start now but also look ahead to the future. I need to know the latest software too.

You're welcome ^^
But latest software?
I use Gimp since longer than I am registered here.

GIMP has been around for more than 20 years and is still regularly updated. It should be quite enough to get you started.
I would rather advise against using latest software, it tends to require far too much resources (memory and computing power) for very debatable improvements.
Personally I use an antique (about 10 years old) version of PaintShop. It's quite enough for the little image processing I do.

Okay, experiment with URLs and Paint for now, but switch to Gimp in the future.

Hello, if you need nothing else than changing the size of pictures, I'd recommend you this one: https://www.bricelam.net/ImageResizer/
Its greatest advantage is that it's lean and very easy to use, because it's been made only for that purpose. For further image manipulation I'd also recommend GIMP, version 2.8 Regular smile
