Rod, sauve-moi !

1. | Mythologie |
(Yarilo) |
(Zimushka) |
(Slavsya, Rus'!) |

There is:
The god’s name is not mentioned. Родной here is more like either the relative or someone very close. Святая - like holly [water?] Given the pagan vibe, it must be about some ritual
My mother-in-law freaked out when she saw a rubber hand waiving her in our dorm room :D
OMG what else to say about deep cultural relations :)
We did it when we were in high school. We were gentle, as we thought... we only used water in late spring or summer and - cruel part - potato pieces (I don’t even know how in the world we got this idea)
:(
No, we didn’t climb the walls, but they challenged me once to rollerblade down the corridor :). See, in Soviet Union rollerblades did not really exist for general population. I’d never seen them before, It was (and is) almost like to put ice skates on Californian. Корова на льду - have you seen it? :)
Well, back to my story, I just put the things on and slide. And the prise was to see their jaws drop off :)

Is it about Ветра вы дети?
There is one god of wind, but he has many children...what did I not understand in your question?
And it is not literal, it just means something like “free spirited” IMPO
That’s not how it is in Russian
Дети ветра - children of wind
Where’s the “god” there?
Maybe we are looking at different lines?
To me, it’s “hey you, children of wind, carry on my song” а если с богами, то “hey you, kids of Stribog {fn}, take my song with you”
Ah? Now you are calling Russian a Yoda talk?
Мы ж можем обидится, если разберёмся who Yoda is :D ;(
Super what? How did she pronounced it in Russian?

There is an English summary of the song (I guess it’s written in the booklet):
‘Upon returning from a sea voyage, the warriors brave out a storm in the night which leads to a shipwreck on the reef. Wounded and freezing, the crew disembarks onto a small rocky island hoping to survive, but when they realize that they will not last out till morning, they pray to Wind-Stribog to bring the message about their death to their families and relatives. Perishing, the warriors thank Rod for the life they have been given.
“Not fallen victim to the surging water,
In the mortal fight with the wind,
Spreading hands to the skies,
You are waiting for Rod to answer.”’
