This is a song by an indie group, but it mentions a few cultural things in Australia, like eskies, barbecuing and the famous chant at rugby games. There are a lot of footnotes on the page of the song itself explaining the references.

"Cook was attacked and killed in 1779 during his third exploratory voyage in the Pacific while attempting to kidnap Hawaiian chief Kalaniʻōpuʻu.The body was disembowelled, baked to facilitate removal of the flesh, and the bones were carefully cleaned for preservation as religious icons in a fashion somewhat reminiscent of the treatment of European saints in the Middle Ages. Some of Cook's remains, thus preserved, were eventually returned to his crew for a formal burial at sea."

Is this about James Cook? He was British.

Oh wait I just translated that.... that’s.... awful.

Well, it is humorous song from Soviet epoch. It is not politically (or geographically) correct.
The joke was that they wanted to eat Chief Cook (of the ship), but get James Cook instead.

So it’s dark humour? I’ll have to reread it. I like dark humour if done correctly lol.

Okay I’ll get these added as soon as I can. I’m on mobile atm and it’s not populating the content field properly. Sorry, I’m going on holiday soon but I’ll add everything when I can.

Edit: should be done now. Sometimes the mobile interface gives me trouble adding things.
