The Sand Dunes Café

On the coast of Brittany,
among dwarf pine and jasmine,
is The Sand Dunes Cafè.
We came there one winter night
with our dreams in a sack,
on the way to the world'e end.

You came from the white castle,
from silk and crystal,
from rooms where time stopped.
I came from the roads,
from cold and cheap wine,
from dirty concert stages.

You tried my shoes,
which wandered around the world,
which have been at the carnival.
I tried your scent,
of expensive perfume
and I felt elegant.

We talked and drank
and sought to blend blood
and shed skin with each other,
You spoke vulgarly,
I chose every word,
and the language burned in the storm.

I looked in your soul,
like a fisherman in the mussel,
a pearl you hid somewhere.
You offered me your body,
I wanted tho burn it up
and spread it in the wind.

When the sun returned,
and every word was said,
you asked me for my hand.
I smiled mockingly and you cried:
"You know nothing!"
I wept with dry eyes.

We made love and drank
for 10 white nights
Then the Sand Dunes Cafè closed
but down on our beach
the worms wrote in the sand
It's true, it's true, it's true.
