Greeting, fellow translators.

We all love our favorite artists, but we only vote for translations.
Why not to make possible to "Like" favorite songs?
Simple "Like" button will allow to sort lyrics by their rating among users of this site. Or at least to display the number of "likes" next to the song title. I'm not talking about user's content there, only original songs by the original artists.

It would be helpful for users, who are not well familiar with artist/band, to start acquaintance with the highest-ranked songs first, instead of picking up some titles on random.

I don't know how current rating is calculated, but one artist I've interest in, has 300+ titles, which [for some obscure reason] are topped [meaning Top-3 feature] by the little-known title with just one translation. Other songs of the same artist on LT has translations to multiple languages, including multiple versions within same language.

Thank you,
Apologies if it is double post, but I couldn't find anything close to that.

Hi there,

Well, you can 'favorite' a song, but I'm not sure people use this feature (I've never seen 'favorited songs' like we have with artists). I only do it with artists.

You can mark lyrics as 'favorite' > https://imgur.com/a/QLfdQjV

As for listing, one can always list songs by popularity in the artist profiles.

Thanks, Alma.
My post was about "Like" vote to affect current ranking of lyrics within same artist.
If 100 users up-vote "Yesterday" and just 1 for "Sgt Pepper", "Yesterday" will have a chance to be displayed higher than "Sgt Ppr". Currently it is alphabetic order (which is a mess for non-English lyrics) + Top-3 (which, imho doesn't work proper; see my note above). I use "Favorites" feature, but my post is not about that.

Very good idea, but k-pop will win anyway

The view for the lyrics can be changed to "Popularity" which is a ranking according to the number of clicks the lyrics have gotten. You can also "thank" for lyrics, that also shows that certain lyrics are popular and, as AlmaBarroca mentiones, you can add them to your personal "Favorites" list.
For me that's sufficient.

Schnurrbrat's talking about popularity of song, not the artist. We deal with songs not with artists, and it'll very useful to have a tool for searching new amazing songs. So, I support Schnurrbrat, but this rating should be divided into categories.

Thank you, maluca, for your opinion and the explanation of "click count" thing.
I suspect something like. Unfortunately, click count doesn't work as intended:

Example #1 Top-3 for the artist A:
Top 3 songs on LT:
1. A very little known title with 1 translation
2. A very little known title with 1 translation
3. A well known title with 15 translations into 9 languages.

I suspect that in the Example #1 the first two positions are occupied by the titles with recently fulfilled requests.

Example #2 Top-3 for the artist B:
1. A little known title with 2 translations
2. A well known title with 2 translations
3. A so-so title with 2 translations.

In the example #2, I know for sure that top spot is taken due to recent request of translation to English. And i personally recently submitted translations for 2.1 and 2.2, so I might affected click count, but this Top-3 has nothing to do with ranking of the titles by popularity among listeners.

Anyway, there is no mechanism which will allow any user who want familiarize him/herself with unknown artist, to pick "greatest hits" out of tens or sometimes hundreds titles. Although there are some indicators of real popularity of the title among listeners, they're misleading. "Thanks" (relative to lyrics) close to that, but involves submitter's influence on the count, so a popular LT user could get a numerous thanks if he/she submitted some so-so title. More important, the number of "Thanks" (relative to lyrics) is not displayed on the Artist page. Number of translations could be indicator, but it is misleading too, some songs are easier to translate and some not. There could be unexplainable craze/fluctuation: there are titles with 30! to English translations and a sonnet with 10-15? translations by the same user. I would prefer "Like" button available both for users and guests and that "Like" count would be displayed next to the title on artist page, or there would be an option to sort titles by this "Like"-rating.

EDIT: Yes, indeed, sorting by popularity brings some sense [but again plagued by random fluctuations] to the sorting of lyrics. I sorted both artists that I've used as examples, and Top-3 for them is not matched by sorting by popularity. So at least this part is broken and/or has separate algorithm from popularity.
Still, i would like to keep my suggestion alive, since it will be a real indicator of what songs are real fans' favorite, and not a measure of traffic.

There is a difference between the "Top Three" and the "Popularity" sorted song list of an artist.

The "Top Three" seems to be the most clicked songs in recent times (maybe in the last month, I don't know).
But if you go to the artists' pages you can notice in the upper right corner of the song list 4 possibilities to sort the songs:
"Song Album Language Popularity"

If you click on one of these 4 possibilities the songs are arrange either by alphabetical order, by album, by languages or by overall popularity (most clicks).
