This "mother-complex" is a powerful thing, and a many-splendoured thing as well ! The paintings on the video are beautiful. However, this song isn't really about "mothers" or about "madonnas" at all, and the Greek phrase "Manna moo" is just a common exclamation of surprise or shock or astonishment, corresponding exactly to the Italian exclamation "Mamma mia".

This song is actually about a teenage boy who loses his virginity to a "sorceress", somewhere "down by the river", and is then forever smitten, mortally, by this femme fatale !

You just HAVE to feel sorry for the poor boy : not only has he been "smitten" by that "sorceress", he appears to have been completely "knocked out" as well, and his "heart is bleeding" ! Furthermore, he's now stricken with pangs of GUILT that he's BETRAYED HIS OWN MUM !

The song is about seduction, loss of innocence, and, consequently, feelings of shame. I think, perhaps, paintings of "Seduction by a Temptress" would have been more suitable for the video, particularly the Biblical theme of Adam and Eve which has been abundantly depicted by all the great masters.

This song is a gem by the late great Aris San (full name at birth : Aristidis Saisanas). He was born in Kalamata, Greece, in 1940, and moved to the newly-established State of Israel in 1957. He developed into a phenomenally successful singer/songwriter both of Greek-language and of Modern Hebrew songs. He died "in mysterious circumstances" in Hungary in 1992.
