Jacques Londray

Jacques Londray, Parisien de naissance,
A voulu s’envoler bien ailleurs.

Thank you, Ymdeithydd!
Much appreciated.
Out of curiosity, why "Tous les gars" were concatenated into one word?

You're welcome. Well, just because they weren't readily comprehensible to a Russian or French speaking listener to the original - I presumed intentionally - and didn't clearly relate to the rest of the lyrics. The context would suggest some kind of morale, or ironic commentary, but it eluded me if so. Would you rather I changed it?

Well, I suspect that Vizbor's French is far from perfect, but this line is a direct copy of Georges Brassens' song.
I personally would place a footnote at first occurrence, but I guess it would be obvious for any French-speaking reader.
Thanks again.

Sorry, footnotes are not one of my talents! I've put a comment in already. I've changed it back to proper French instead. I think I might have worked out without your comment from the дю виляже that толигэ was supposed to sound like 'tous les gars', but you certainly saved me some head-scratching. I was just trying to reflect that it's essentially a nonsense chorus, whose literal meaning isn't all that relevant to its appreciation.

Oh, I thought you saw my comment under the lyrics with a link to the original song by Brassens.
Now it will look like I'm pressing you to use footnotes (I frankly think you comment is already sufficient), but in reality footnotes are very simple to use and I really like them. So, maybe you will use them on your next translation. All you need is just to place a short string of characters before and after your footnote text as described there:

6.2 Adding footnotes:

You could use them everywhere, not only in your translations1

I have tried this before 1, because I always expect some kind of editing window to pop-up. But I'll give it another try, because it would be useful!
