Lili Ivanova (Bulgarian: Лили Иванова, pronounced [ˈlili ivɐˈnɔvɐ]; born 24 April 1939) is a Bulgarian singer, referred to by many as the prima of Bulgarian pop music. She started her career in the early 1960s and has been active ever since. With over 400 songs sung in several languages (Bulgarian, German, Russian, Italian, English, Spanish and a few others) and with over 30 studio albums, the singer has collaborated with a lot of famous poets and composers during her career. Some of them have left a significant trace in her career, having created tens of songs for her.

This is supposed to be a mother collection which will include all sub-collections that I've created (and plan on creating down the line), of all songs by Lili Ivanova sorted by their poets/lyricists and composers. They'll be sorted in the following order: poets/lyricists will be first, composers will be second.

Gargov composed approximately 20 songs for her. For several years, both of them became a well-known duo thanks to the two studio albums they released together: Животът ни събира, животът ни разделя ("Life Brings Us Together, Life Tears Us Apart", 1978) and Лили Иванова – Асен Гаргов (the latter known commonly as Сърцето те избра ("The Heart Chose You", 1983). Mitko Shterev (Bulgarian: Митко Щерев, pronounced [ˈmitko ˈʃtɛrɛf]; born 28 January 1946) is a Bulgarian composer, arranger and pianist, who created the popular band Diana Express in 1974. Apart from that he composed approximately 20 songs for Lili Ivanova, some of which became one of the singer's most well-known songs.

Shterev and Ivanova's collaboration began in the early 1970s and managed to live on for several decades. In the mid-2000s, however, a personal dispute arose between the two artists. According to Shterev, the singer hasn't been paying him the required money for the authorship of his songs. Ivanova denied his claims, and in 2009, she released her autobiography, Истината ("The Truth"), in which she allegedly revealed some controversial details about the composer, who, in his turn, denied them and called Ivanova a liar. As a result, the dispute was taken to court by the singer, and it became widely known to the general public that Mitko Shterev banned Lili Ivanova from singing his songs. Ever since, the singer stopped performing his songs at concerts and including them in any of her albums (and, of course, ceased to collaborate with him entirely). It seems the dispute hasn't been resolved, because, as of 2021, practically all songs that were uploaded by many people on YouTube (the singer's channel included), have started to be taken down due to copyright claims made by the composer himself. Therefore, unfortunately, you won't be able to listen to most of the songs in this collection (in case a song is still available, it's just a matter of time to be taken down).

As the title suggests, the purpose of this collection is to gather all songs composed by Mitko Shterev and performed by Lili Ivanova. They will be sorted alphabetically. In the description box for each song there will be the names of the authors of the lyrics and the arrangement, the albums and their corresponding years the songs appeared in. If Mitko Shterev is the author of both the music and the arrangement, only the lyrics author's name will be mentioned.

Even though the singer has stated in interviews that she doesn't have the ability/talent to write lyrics or compose music, some of her albums credit her as the composer of a couple of songs. Whatever the actual truth behind that is and although there are not a lot of these songs, they deserve to be gathered in a single collection nonetheless.

(My personal opinion: Even though I am no one to question the truthfulness behind this, I presume these songs were gifted to the singer by certain composers. The reason I think so is because I seem to find the way they sound similar to that of those composers' style, but, as I said, this is just a supposition, and with it, I don't mean to question anything. In any case, facts are facts and her name is still there on the album credits. In case Ivanova has ever shed light on this topic, it may be me who doesn't know about this.)

As the title suggests, the purpose of this collection is to gather all songs composed by Lili Ivanova herself. They will be sorted alphabetically. In the description box for each song there will be the names of the authors of the lyrics and the arrangement, the albums and their corresponding years the songs appeared in.
