Bridge Over Troubled Water

When you're weary
Feeling small
When tears are in your eyes
I will dry them all

I'm on your side
When times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you

I'll take your part
When darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

Sail on Silver Girl 1
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way

See how they shine
If you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind

  • 1. The line "Sail on, silver girl" is often reputed to refer to a needle (meaning the song is about heroin) but it actually refers to Simon's girlfriend (and later wife) Peggy Harper who found a few gray hairs and was upset. The lyric was meant as a joke - Simon calling her "Silver Girl" because of her hair.

This song is not related to "Simon & Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water", IT IS THE SAME SONG! It should be marked as also performed by!

No!
Simon & Garfunkel"s song - is ORIGINAL
This is - cover version!
Please, DELETE from this page - "Also performed by: Simon & Garfunkel , YOULI, Johnny Cash, Morten Harket"

If you compare the lyrics between the two maybe you'll see that the songs are exactly the same. Yes, Simon & Garfunkel's version is the original one and this one is "also performed by".
FYI when a famous song is recorded in a different language, say Russian, it becomes the Russian version.

For some reason you changed the name of the artist.
It was right (Elisa), now it's fake (Simon and Garfunkel).
Please return back of the correct name and delete from this page - "Also performed by: Simon & Garfunkel , YOULI, Johnny Cash, Morten Harket"

See LT rules:

Quote:

Also performed by (optional)
If you know any singer who did a cover version of this song, please indicate their names here, separating each artist with a comma

At first the song was performed by Simon & Garfunkel.
Songwriter - Paul Simon, see Wikipedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bridge_over_Troubled_Water_(song)
Therefore, this links ("also performed by") should be on the Original Song page - https://lyricstranslate.com/ru/Simon-Garfunkel-Bridge-Over-Troubled-Wate...

“Also performed by” and “cover” is the exact same thing. Technically, the entries for “Elisa” and “Alexander Gradsky” and I don’t know how many more are redundant but, I guess, people might be interested in listening to their YouTube performances.

Simon & Garfunkel, YOULI, Johnny Cash, Morten Harket, Aretha Franklin, Peggy Lee, Elvis Presley do not perform by Elisa's (or Alexander Gradsky) song! They are perform by Simon & Garfunkel's song.
I repeat:

Actually, the concept of 'Related' varies from person to person (and I don't think there are any rules regarding it). I myself only use this feature to link bands and their members who have soloist careers, but not covers and original songs. For me, linking this via 'Also performed by' does the job.

Joyce SuJoyce Su    пет., 31/05/2019 - 22:32

For my understanding, except the original song and artist (Popular and Famous), others all are cover versions.
"Related" varies are that all songs of different languages related to the original songs.
"Also performed by" is based on this lyrics and linking the artists, especially the lyrics is exactly same in language and content.

No!
LT rules are very simple and unambiguous:

Quote:

Also performed by (optional):
If you know any singer who did a cover version of this song, please indicate their names here, separating each artist with a comma

Quote:

Related item can be any of the following - Artist, Song, or Translation. You can search by name, or paste URL of the page you want to add as related.

Show me - where do these LT rules speak about the languages in which the lyrics were written?

ltlt    пон., 03/06/2019 - 08:41

If we add artists in "Also performed by", we imply they performed the same song in the same language (lyrics can be slightly different though.)
If songs are in different languages, they can be linked with "Related" field.

Ivan LudenIvan Luden    пон., 03/06/2019 - 08:50

Again:
Show me - where do these LT rules speak about the languages ("same" or "different") in which the lyrics were written?

If we refer to the same song lyrics, it automatically means the same language, implying that all artists listed there performed the same (or very similar) text.

ScieraSciera    пон., 03/06/2019 - 17:58

Because the "related" field is quite new and we didn't yet see any necessity to point out more explicitly what "also performed by" means. But we can certainly clarify that in the rules.

What else would you think should be put into "also performed by" if not cover versions?

Do you ever read what you write? Cause If I were in your shoes then would I do it cause I see that you repeat your sentence and this sentence gets less meaning the more you repeat it
