Hi friends,
As I know, we usually use Geniş Zaman for regular actions, habits or common truth
But I can see that it is also used for actions in future.
How can I know when I should use Geniş Zaman and when Gelecek Zaman?
Geniş Zaman for future actions
Hi. Well, that's hard to explain... at least for me. It depends on the text, I'd say.
Like this
Bakarız- we'll see
Okula giderim - I go to school.
Oh well, now it seems my examples weren't of some help...
You just look at the text and see if the sentence is about common things or the action will be made in the near future. That future tense isn't absolute, the action may happen or may not happen (that's why we call it "the non-absolute future tense" in Azerbaijani).
If the text is about an action that could happen in the future, it is future tense, but if the text is about usual things, then it is present tense..
I don't know if I were of some help.. but oh well, this is all I can do.. sorry in advance.

You're right! You can say both "Yarın arkadaşımla sinemaya gidiyorum/gidiyoruz" and "Yarın arkadaşımla sinemaya gideceğim/gideceğiz".
[@Pani], I think I can't be of some help here... Because I can give you examples and tell which tense is used there, but I can't teach you how to distungish these 2 tenses... It's just common sense, I think... All I can say is you should focus on the sentence to understand whether the the action is usually made or it will be made in the future. Now I realize how hard it is for foreigners to learn our languagues xD

yes you are correct, you also can use Gelecek Zaman for the examples you gave! I suggest you to use Şimdiki Zaman if the actions will happen in near future, like in your examples ,like yarın or bu yaz, bu yıl. If you are talking about next 5 years for example use Gelecek Zaman.
Now Geniş Zaman. If you are talking about some plan that is not CERTAIN use Geniş Zaman.
For example, you have a whatsapp group, somebody writes Let's meet! (Hadi görüşelim) you guys still don't have a certain date for the meeting in your mind, say Görüşürüz (it is like MAYBE you will meet maybe not, maybe tomorrow, maybe next week, it is not certain)
