Nina se réveille

Nina se relève
la pommette écrasée sur la tomette,
des fourmis dans les orteils,
et un pivert dans sa tête

Nina se relève.
Ses habits sont salis.
Nina soulève
des remords aussi.

Превод

Nina awakes

Nina gets up
with her cheekbone squashed against the floor tile,
ants in her toes,
and a woodpecker in her head

Nina gets up.
Her clothes are dirty.
Nina brings up
a few regrets too.

Ah no not really - "her clothes are gets dirty" doesn't work at all.

I think you meaning that "salis" is the past tense so a more literal English would be "Her clothes are dirtied/soiled"
But in practice we would just say "dirty". :)

Umm - I'm not quite sure now that you come to mention it. I guess she was waking with a banging headache. I guess a woodpecker tapping in her head is a more likely image. Can pivert also mean jackhammer or did I dream it? :)

How odd - I don't know where I pulled that from - nothing like "marteau piqueur" is it? :)

It's a fairly silly little song but it serves as an epilogue to the longer "Quand Nina est saoule" so I needed to translate it for completeness.

I quite like this guy - he seems to pick his words for their sonority rather than for any especially deep meaning, but the effect is nice. Reminds me of Serge's La Javanaise at times. Not that I'm putting him in the same league of course.

There's one really nice one I want to do but I'm not 100% sure of the French - might run it by you when it's ready if that's ok. :)

Yeah, it's more trusting if I'm hearing the French correctly - I've got most of it, just a few words I'm not quite sure are correct... You can't trust the transcriptions on the web - Elles sont truffées de fautes ;)

Now I'm wondering if I've made one... I haven't have I? :)
