Russia is waging a disgraceful war on Ukraine.     Stand With Ukraine!

(Tak zhe, kak vchera)“

Thank you, Liz, I am very happy that you have published a new poem. I need some time to read it carefully, but I am convinced, I will enjoy every line! 😍

LizzzardLizzzard    втор., 18/02/2020 - 22:43

So little time because of work that I decided to at least show some kind of activity XD
I hope you will like it!) ♥

Your are sooo right!!! Why we cant do that, [@lt]?

LizzzardLizzzard    ср., 19/02/2020 - 12:18

Actually, it’s good that poems and songs are not rated here. ) I like that LT is closer to a kind community of people united by a hobby, than to a professional arena.
The real value here are people ♥

I like your poems (although this one doesn't seem to follow very strict rules), but I must say I had a problem with : "но звезд здесь не видно."
I'm afraid I'm just unable to pronounce "звезд здесь", although I tried : здзд is too much for me! Confused smile

LizzzardLizzzard    четв., 02/07/2020 - 15:45

Oh. sorry for this crime! Т_Т
In fact, this isn't good for the Russian language too. The whole stanza is overloaded with "zdzd". The verse was written as a song, so a melody corrects this problem a little. But you feel everything right, I shouldn't be praised for the usurpation of these letters)
Thank you very much for your kind response! ♥♥♥

JadisJadis    четв., 02/07/2020 - 15:51

You're welcome. We French have sometimes problems with Russian sequences of consonants, like in "мгновение" for instance, but I guess here Russians would simply pronounce "звёздесь", or something like that...

IremiaIremia    четв., 02/07/2020 - 16:20

Do you have a problem with pronunciation of the word «хлеб»? I am asking because almost none of my English-speaking friends can say it, tripping on “khl” sequence.

JadisJadis    четв., 02/07/2020 - 16:27

I don't, but I'm sure that many French people would have. Already the single letter "х" might me quite a problem for them...

LizzzardLizzzard    четв., 02/07/2020 - 16:41

I watch one interesting blogger from France. She talks a lot about Russian and French, and from her I learned that the French language have a special name for the "non-French R"

Rouler les "R"

It would seem an obvious fact, but it struck me. I always thought it was we - Russians -who, when learning French, would fight the French letter R. but it turns out our R is also unusual for native French speakers))

JadisJadis    четв., 02/07/2020 - 17:02

Usually, it's rather easy to recognize a Russian when he speaks French, because of the 'r's. But even in France, there are several different ways to pronounce it, in Burgundy or in Brittany for instance they sometimes still "roll" it (the Parisians don't).
Here is a typical example of "Russian pronunciation" of French, by a Russian speaking a good French: (from 0:53)

LizzzardLizzzard    четв., 02/07/2020 - 17:07

> in Burgundy or in Brittany for instance they sometimes still "roll" it (the Parisians don't).
Wow. it is incredibly interesting, I didn’t think that there are such differences in the French language depending on the territory)
Thank! now i know more)

JadisJadis    четв., 02/07/2020 - 17:42

When listening to French TV, I noticed that there seems to be an increasing tendency to pronounce the initial "r"s nearly like the Spanish jota or the Russian "х". I know that in Portuguese it's one of the 2 possible ways to pronounce the initial 'r's also (the other way consisting of rolling it).

France has a few very marked regional accents, influenced by neighbouring countries. Germany, Spain and Italy. Plus traces of the ancient Southern variant of French in the lower half of the country. Not to mention variations in other regions like Canada or Africa.

This is about a guy who had a concussion that gives him random changes of accents.
start: Canadian French
2:00: African
2:30: Northern France
2:50: near German border
5:00: standard French

LizzzardLizzzard    четв., 02/07/2020 - 18:13

> 2:30: Northern France
Is Northern French a special object for jokes? it feels like it's a national meme.))

silencedsilenced    четв., 02/07/2020 - 18:22

There was a famous movie about 10 years ago that made the Northerners popular.
Southern accent is also the target of many jokes.
African accent is made fun of, but that's very poor taste, if not downright insulting, considering our colonial past.

But the worst is Belgium. We have "Belgian jokes", a bit like "Irish jokes" in the UK. I guess this happens in many countries. Our national idiots just happen to be the Belgians. And there is a very distinctive Belgian accent.

LizzzardLizzzard    четв., 02/07/2020 - 18:32

Amazing variety) Thank you for such interesting nuances!)

JadisJadis    четв., 02/07/2020 - 18:26

They don't say "Coca-Cola", but "Coco-Colo" (it's a little bit exaggerated, though) :

JadisJadis    четв., 02/07/2020 - 18:42

This one always made me piss in my pants, especially when he imitates the African accent... let's hasten to watch him while it is still not completely forbidden... (there are more videos of him still available) :

silencedsilenced    четв., 02/07/2020 - 19:09

I can't understand these guys. I get about half of what they say. It's still funny though.

silencedsilenced    четв., 02/07/2020 - 19:35

Oh yes, I know this one. It's a classic Regular smile
Funny how Russians picture Brit accent. I spent 9 months 50 km South of London and never heard anybody talk like that.

LizzzardLizzzard    четв., 02/07/2020 - 19:42

I think it was an exaggeration, because the audience is Russian. And the joke should be clear even to those who don't know any English)
"American" also speaks as if he is an announcer in the boxing ring)

silencedsilenced    четв., 02/07/2020 - 19:45

Yes, but I saw people speaking Brit English in a few Russian series, and they tended to go way over the top.
Speaking like a villain in Star Wars or something: "You rebel scum!" Teeth smile

LizzzardLizzzard    четв., 02/07/2020 - 19:51

I don’t know if you saw this - a parody of Russian immigrants who pretend to know English.
Sorry for so many links. I just love jokes about the accents and complexity of the language. Probably need to create a topic where people could share it XD

silencedsilenced    четв., 02/07/2020 - 19:58

"a me? beautifulno!" Teeth smile
Sure, go ahead and create the topic. That should be fun.

IremiaIremia    четв., 02/07/2020 - 20:03

It is funny, but a great exaggeration! Everybody mixes English words and phrases all the time, but not to this extent lol! Most often you can hear something like: «возьмёшь вот этот хайвей и выйдешь там-то.

Scottish looks interesting too... :D  Now a last one from my native area (the guy is a real Alsatian, although he doesn't look very much like it). Il may be a little difficut to understand, because he mixes French with Alsatian, which is a German dialect :

LizzzardLizzzard    четв., 02/07/2020 - 19:30

Oh, now we will imagine that you are speaking in this way! XD

French is a very stable language. Accents will not prevent people understanding each other, unless they don't want to be understood Regular smile

Well, I have to say, as a Nothern-permanent-resident, that's exactly how my old people speak (mixed with ch'ti/picard, though) !

that's great))

JadisJadis    четв., 02/07/2020 - 18:21

Ha ha. The "German border" accent sounds dubious, but there is a little bit of Northern accent (ch'ti) in it too.

JadisJadis    четв., 02/07/2020 - 17:24

Too bad. I love it when he says "OK, montez, mais né crrroyez pas à vos prrroprrres monsonges" (OK, lie as much as you want, but don't believe your own lies"). Regular smile

I say this many times a day, sometimes mat-accompanied, in response to the evil one whose name shouldn’t be pronounced...

The sound doesn't exist in French, but it's not too hard to get with a bit of practice.
The only thing I never could pronounce right is the "ы", I even have trouble hearing the difference with "и" sometimes. But I suppose many foreigners have trouble with that sound.

JadisJadis    четв., 02/07/2020 - 16:36

And the L, don't forget the L! This is the detail that immediately betrays a Frenchman trying to impersonate a Russian.

Regular smile

Well I tried my best. In some cases the difference with "и" is obvious, but sometimes I really don't hear it.
I guess it's similar to the difficulties Russians have with all the French nasal sounds like "en", "on, "in".

When I started leaning Russian, I was told that it was something between "i" and "ü". But sometimes, when you listen to Russians, you can hear it very clearly, and sometimes not.

(like Pussykov)

Lizzzard diyor ki:

Well, not everybody can pronounce my name, Irina [Eereenah] here, so I had to become [Aireenah/Айрина]. Took some time to get used to it, but now it even seems strange when someone says it correctly lol

silencedsilenced    четв., 02/07/2020 - 19:01

I had the same problem in Russia, to be honest. "p'yerrr"? Who's that?

LizzzardLizzzard    четв., 02/07/2020 - 19:08

Poor Pierre Richard and Gerard Depardieu. They visited Russia, and probably tired of the endless "rrr" XD
