There is a superstition that one should not kiss upon the threshhold of a house (it could lead to long separation, etc). See here for ex:

In my place, I also heard that one should not offer a knife or scissors (it breaks friendship, or love), or handkerchieves (this will lead to tears), etc.

Не целуй меня через порог, - примета! - Don't kiss me across the threshold - it's bad luck! This words are nothing more, than a kind of duty parting words, when somebody has to say something.

It's about right. Much depends on, how you interpret. I'd not quite agree that it sounded like a "sarcastic way".
