Ballad

There was a song heard over river Neman
The one a troubadour on lira played
Of a princess whom one shepherd dearly loved
She loved him - a dove with dove
Earth bestowed its riches and sky became their crown.

'Twas a beautiful marriage - flowers wreath 1
To lay a sword at Prince's feet was betrothal's fate.
Once stern Prince learned of their secret marriage,
Love was shackled where pine and oak grew.

On a steep river band oak and pine were standing,
Twined branches gazing toward east.
At sunrise, sun like poppies flowered,
On beloved earth, fragrant sagebrush grew.

Where does love go when cruelty reigns the land
There, at dawn, dew mixed with blood stained a lacy shawl.
As troubadour sang to me, under oak and pine,
God took the princess and her young fellow to eternal love.

On a steep river band oak and pine were standing,
Twined branches gazing toward east.
At sunrise, sun like poppies flowered,
On beloved earth, fragrant sagebrush grew.

[@padim7gr] Could you possibly check out this translation? I can't get any traction with the other users I contacted. Appreciate it.

I'd love to help you - I'll have time later today, but since I don't actually know Belarusian, apart from my contribution, you should definitely find a person who does...

One musician playing lira sang this song on the Neman riverside.
Troubadour - a French medieval lyric poet composing and singing in Provençal in the 11th to 13th centuries, especially on the theme of courtly love.
5: Earth bestowed its riches and sky became their crown. -> Land became their riches and sky became their wedding crown.
2: To lay a sword at Prince's feet was betrothal's fate. -> Knyaz' fate ordered him to put his knife in the scabbard
Scabbard - a sheath for the blade of a sword or dagger, typically made of leather or metal.
4: Love was shackled where pine and oak grew. -> He shakled their love where a pine and an oak grew
On a steep river band the oak and pine stand,
Twining branches, they gaze toward east.
At sunrise, sun like poppies flowered,
On beloved earth, is shines above growing sagebrush.

Present Simple.

1: Where does love go when cruelty reigns the land -> Where could love go when cruelty reigns the land?
2: here, at dawn, dew mixed with blood stained a lacy shawl. -> Here, at dawn, dew mixed with blood stained a thin shawl.
3: As troubadour sang to me, under oak and pine -> As troubadour sang to me, under the oak and pin
