Recently I've been reached by yet another victim of verbal abuse and intolerence. A user felt the need to report to me directly the instances in which she was insulted heavily by somebody because of a trivial matter. The trouble-maker had gotten banned, apparently, but these kind of stories never end there.
Apparently the trouble-maker made another account, and then ANOTHER account just so they could continue to harass the victim. This isn't the first case I've been made aware of, and I'm sure it won't be the last. Not to mention there should probably be tons of it outside my knowledge almost each day. I think I've fed up with this.
Usually there are remedies to situations like these on the internet, such as IP ban or restricted number of accounts per IP. I'm curious as to why this issue hasn't come up yet on the forum (to my knowledge anyways). Even as simple a solution as restricting everyone to have two accounts would suffice to at least shorten this problem. Otherwise it just becomes a silly game of whac-a-mole between moderators, the admin and trouble-makers. Taking counter measures to this nuisance would surely improve the user's experience on this website, too: because most of the time when they complain, what they underline is that "this isn't the place for these stupid kind of fights!". I understand that we can't eradicate the problem, but we sure can stop a troll somehow from making tons of accounts.
I wanted to share this with the public opinion not just as a suggestion but also as a way of increasing awareness; accessorily to see if I lack knowledge on the procedure of ban on the website. And I don't really mind trolls, I apply the golden rule of internet "don't feed the troll" very often, but this is a problem that can be so easily solved that I can't even understand why this is still a problem.
