Which is your favorite movie ever?

Actually, Kill Bill was the first Tarantino movie i ever saw (three years ago). Then i watched Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained. Finally, some months ago, i watched all his others but i didn't really care about them. I found them good but non-interesting for me. I knew about Inglourious before watching Kill Bill but i didn't care to watch it then. Anyway, watching this duology for the first time, i thought it was a gift by God! It was the movie i always wanted to watch! It had everything i love in a movie in perfect combination and balance. It doesn't lack on anything. Maybe, for these reasons, Kill Bill is my favorite movie....i've just stuck with it. I have a huge crush on that movie. It made me to be interested about cinema.
Which is your favorite movie and why?

The quintessential Tarantino movie is Pulp Fiction: Kill Bill paled in comparison. Regular smile

This is a very difficult topic - there is an enormous number of excellent films. So, I will add a brief list of ten, at random, so as to give a more comprehensive picture.

01. Anything by Akira Kurosawa (with Ran, Kagemusha and Seven Samurai being favourites).
02. Almost anything by Tarantino (Kill Bill 1 & 2, Inglorious Basterds, Pulp Fiction and The Hateful 8 are amazing).
03. Blade Runner.
04. Almost anything by Luis Buñuel (Las Hurdes, Belle du Jour and Viridiana are favourites).
05. The Magdalene Sisters - tragic, but simply excellent.
06. Black Bread - a VERY good thriller/tragicomedy from Catalonia. One of the best films I've ever had the pleasure of watching.
07. Black Narcissus - a rather beautiful film, with a very well developed story.
08. The Woman in Black - the BBC original is both terrifying and excellent, but the new Hammer 2012 film is also OK.
09. Les Diaboliques - I hated how utterly despicable almost every single character is, but it is undeniably a great film about repugnant individuals.
10. Steel Magnolias - I don't like romcoms, but this is a very well structured film with an unusual subject and a great ensemble cast.

I didn't like Pulp Fiction, it was not adventurous, not emotional at all, it broke my nerves.
Not for me.
And i don't think PF is Tarantino's best film. He has made much better. At least, Kill Bill changed cinema history. It was something special for the time it was released....

I agree with you. Actually, i'm not a Tarantino fan, but Kill Bill is great! I liked the story, the music themes, the screenplay, he used manga anime(!!!) The rest are just ok.

Anyway, my favorite movie is The Lord Of The Rings, especially Fellowship Of The Ring. I read the books first, and then i watched the trilogy. I 'felt in love' with that. Pure magic....

Pulp Fiction is a bit crazy - it's meant to represent a group of marginal people that live on the edge, and whose realities accidentally converge into a series of increasingly frenzied scenarios - all driven by madness, greed and degradation. It is extremely well structured and it isn't kitschy, purely absurd or rocambolesque. The characters are within the bounds of what reality could offer, even if there's quite a bit of dark humour thrown in.

However, you are right in saying that Tarantino has better films, and Kill Bill is his greatest masterpiece, without a single doubt. However, it's also true that Kill Bill is one of the best films in history and most others pale in comparison. It has awesome, well-developed, intelligent characters, millions of cultural references from the most diverse backgrounds that are perfectly integrated, a very coherent, well concatenated and beautiful story, impeccable direction and SUPERB cinematography... Also, the acting is top notch. There's no doubt that this is a classic even for Tarantino's spectacularly high standards.

So yes, I wrote all that to say that I mostly agree with you Tongue smile

Hard Candy, because it manages to achieve awesomeness with a minimalist production. It's amazing what you can do with a great script and a couple of talented actors.

Original "Solaris" by A. Tarkovsky - one of the deepest, most engrossing and thought-provoking films ever made and it is truly sensational: it will alter your perception of reality forever (don't even bother watching the shallow Hollywood remake with pathetic G. Clooney).

'The Lion King' (1994), 'The Day The Earth Stood Still' (2008) and 'The Day After Tomorrow' (2004). Both of which I must have watched 5 times (at least) and I still enjoy myself as if it was the first time.

Interesting enough, I do have a strange taste for movies that show humanity on the verge of extinction...

I guess I've seen that Hollywood remake with pathetic George Clooney, but I don't even remember what it was about. And, in my defense, I didn't know that was a remake. Now I gotta check the original Russian film.

Hard to pick just one movie. " There Will Be Blood" with Daniel Day Lewis is probably the best movie I've seen in the last, lets say, 5 years.
Moral decay shown over the years. Paul Dano is also brilliant as a shady preacher but not as equally good as DDL. But then again there's also " No Country for Old Men" Reasons? Bardem's performance which got him an Oscar is a good enough reason for me to recommend this movie. The other reason is the fact that even though the story revolves (mainly) around two characters it kept me at the edge of the seat for the whole duration of the movie. Of course I have to mention also "Heat" with Pacino, De Niro and Val Kilmer. Many great scenes, such as bank robbery or diner confrontation. Plus, It's the only movie (well apart from the Godfather) in which Den Niro was credible (for me) as a gangster. That's my top 3. And of course " Monster's Ball" with Halle Berry is another piece of art (for me anyway). As far as the more recent ones are concerned, I have to mention
"Shot Caller", new western 'Hostiles' with Christian Bale, Blade Runner 2049 (not a science fiction fan at all but this one is great) and phenomenal 'Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri'. 'Shot Caller' has its shortcomings (plot/story) but it's though provoking, makes me reflect on my life, maybe appreciate it more. 'Three Billboards outside Ebbing Missouri.' hard for me to find any weak points. I loved the acting, writing/dialogues. The only thing which I (kinda) didn't like was the ending. 'Hostiles' very good western, 'modern' one I would say, not a typical goodie vs baddie flick. It kinda smacks 'American propaganda' but it's still a very, very good film.

Sounds to me like you don't know too much about Pulp Fiction: read about it here https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulp_Fiction and then compare the equivalent page for Kill Bill and see which pales in terms of achievements.

Pulp Fiction is a stupid movie. At least, Kill Bill is adventurous, emotional, artistic, it has a story and cinematography is terrific!
Pulp Fiction is a mess. Too overrated.
