Subway to Sally - Auf der Reise (Englisch Übersetzung)

Englisch Übersetzung

On the Voyage

We have no captain
And no helmsman
The sails that waft in the wind
Drive us aimlessly forward

The crew is a wild crowd
From all the ends of the world
They came running to us
Because they don't like it anywhere

On the voyage to the islands
We will paint the ship
On the voyage to the islands
We will paint the ship

Through seven seas we want to travel
The compass long since flew overboard
We are returning home after seven years
We've been away for a long time

And if the Earth was a disc
We'd sail smoothly over the edge
Whoever doesn't want to follow us can stay
This voyage costs one's mind

I know, I know, I'm not too happy about how it turned out either. Regular smile Any suggestions on how to improve it would be helpful, thanks in advance.

Vorletzte Strophe:

We want to travel trough seven seas
The compass long since flew overboard
After seven years we'll return home
We stay away for a long time

letzte Strophe:

And if the Earth -would be- a disc -> wäre
We would sail smoothly over the edge -> würden
Who doesn't want to follow us can stay

Thank you for the corrections! Actually, my English is better than my German, so I hope you don't mind me answering in English - it's faster and easier for me. I'll correct the tenses, I can see that you're right, it was an oversight on my part - and the "währ" in the original lyrics confused me a bit.

As for the journey/voyage dilemma, I'll still stick to "voyage", since it is traditionally used for travel on water (and, in modern times, in space), which is the case in this song.

Thanks once again, feel welcome to correct me whenever I make a mistake, it will be much appreciated.

No problem, I'm good at either English, or German.
It's actually a spelling mistake the "währ - währen - last", doesn't make any sense, so it has to be "wär(e)".

Yes, I understand it now, but I think only the person who posted the original lyrics or a moderator can fix that... Feel free to write in German to me, it's a good exercise for me. Regular smile
