Hi, I've seen some people type an at symbol @ and a members name and it shows as a blue hyperlink. I'm just wondering how that's done because, at least for me, it doesn't show up as a blue link, just plain text.

You can converts 'username' into a link the user's profile page, using this tag: [ @username] (Please, remove the space between '[' and '@' so that it can work properly)

And it will show like this: [@swedensour]

This is about creating a link to someone's profile, right?

But I also see the following all the time. "Thanks for all the answers, @Brat exactly what I was searching for".

I feel like as someone from the US, I'm unfamiliar with customs. (For one thing, I had no idea that the US treats parentheses and square brackets in the opposite manner as, apparently, France, Venezuela and Brazil!)

Yes, basically that's it. You can tag a person and a link will take you to their profile.

Although, if you tag a person in a comment, that person will receive a notification like this:

[@BreezyDay] Did you receive a notification saying "Enjovher mentioned you in a new comment to the page [SOLVED] Tagging members", right?

But the example that I gave was not a link. I copied and pasted it exactly as it appeared. I wonder if people think the @ symbol is all that is needed.

Maybe they don't know about the tags. I didn't know about them. I was happy to find this forum because now that I know about the feature, I can use it.

When you first come to a site or start a new job, etc., not everything can stick in your head. Ooh, my next suggestion will be an an option to subscribe to "Tip of the Week".

Oh, I see... Yes, I see these cases very often. Sometimes people think the @ symbol is all that is needed - I was one who thought the same thing at first. :)

Although that tip (and many others) are here in this link Compose tips (HTML-tags).

But, I think we would need this link to be shown below this page (Since this link is within 'Laws of LT'), and so users can better know how they can use these useful tools. Maybe I could suggest it to the Admins...

Some of us have bad memories. I've read that page several times and don't remember seeing those tags at all. Maybe because I didn't understand what they were for? Or maybe because I get overwhelmed and my brain just freezes up. You'd think I would at least have rememered the existence of a list of emoticons!

I guess tip of the week (or 30-second video of the week!) would be unrealistic on an international website. People of all languages might request them. Maybe some day I'll create an English-language YouTube channel with 30 second videos about how to use this site. Or maybe LT wouldn't allow that. But reading pages of info and retaining it all is hard. Poor Alma Barroca has tried to explained to me a million times about adding an OST as an artist, but I think I finally figured it out when he took one of mine and fixed it. Then I had an example. But I tried reading the new info in the rules. I printed it out and everything. I kept getting confused. The way others teach is not the way I learn.*

Just like I read about footnotes but it was confusing. It was not until you created a footnote for me -- and even then I had to wait for a calm, quiet moment -- that I figured out how easy they are.

If one breaks ones ankle, they need crutches. If you have a broken brain, you look for equivalent to brain "crutches". I guess I could make flash cards. Subscribers with "broken brains" probably represent a very small percentage in comparison with the brilliant ones. But I have much to contribute.

(You taught me how to use some other tags, and Flopsi taught me one, but it takes a while. Frequently I get overwhelmed. One of these days, I'll take the examples that you've put into my songs and I'll figure it out. Thanks for your patience! BTW, if I put a video into the submitter's comments, it does not show up in the collection, I believe.)

* I used to read astronomy books. My favorite subject is the life cycle of stars. I read and read, but only understood so much, and retained even less. But I was determined. I kept on and on. Finally I found a DK book that had diagrams that taught me more in five minutes than in an hour of reading.

Sorry, now I'm rambling.

I do not see an explanation for creating a word as a link, as above (a href=). I don't need it because you already taught me. But maybe it should be added.

And the explanation about how to change video start time seems to be missing. (Again, I don't need it because you already taught me.)

But here's a weird question, what if you want the video to end early, as in a movie clip?

Or, SUPER CHALLENGE: What if you want to change both the beginning and end time of the movie clip, and have it show up in your collection?

In the "Filtered HTML" part, a table appears that tells you how to create a word as a link, how to put italic and bold lyrics, among other things - Although not in an explained way as I taught you.

I don't know if there's a tag that allows the video to end at a specific time (I would have to do a little research about that).

Also, it would be amazing if there was a tag that allows you to change both the beginning and end time of the movie clip (I think it does exist, I would have to investigate a little). Unfortunately, I'm not a Computer Programmer or a Systems Engineer, I'm just an Industrial Engineering student.

There are some things that are not available yet or that have to be updated, I can do some of that and send it as a suggestion to the Admins. But, at the moment, I don't have the time to do it (Although, when I have free time, I'll do it).

I know you're super busy.

I only ask because one video ends with a vulgar hand gesture that has nothing to do with the song.

But no pressure. Like I said, I know you have a life, and many other requests besides mine!;)
