Wind blows
In the snow-covered night
Million houses' candles
warm up the cold air
Time goes
Memories flood in
Were they short reunions
or forever apart
Last New Year's Eve
Same way we hoped for
more surprises, better future
before the window lattice
When the sun rises
another year it will be
dry up the tears and look beyond
still we hold on to faith

یا جدایی‌ها برای ابد
شب سال ِ نو، سال ِ پیش
امید داشتیم چون اکنون
به شگفتی‌ها بیشتر، به آیندهٔ بهتر
ایستاده در چارچوب پنجره
چون برآید خورشید
می‌رسد سال ِ دیگر
پاک می‌کنیم اشک‌ها را، چشم می‌دوزیم به ورای ِ [گذشته‌ها]
هم‌چنان چنگ می‌زنیم به ایمان

The snippets are parts of a poem from a late Persian poet. I can say the poem is part of Iranian cultural heritage. It used to be in the primary schools books before. Now it is gone.
The imagery in the first part of your poem made the "Memories flood in".

Music Tales
Read about music throughout history
This is the English version of my Chinese poem 2021, but not a literal translation. The elements in the former poem were reconstructed and there were a few changes in the meaning. However, I tried hard to make the number of syllables in each line almost the same as the Chinese poem. A friend of mine is working on adapting this poem to a song so that both versions can be sung with the same melody.
Both Chinese and English versions are sung in the video. Thanks to my friend Wennie for composing and performing.
