Ленин

Огромное, сукатое полено
Он развернул движением руки
И мужики спросили: - Кто ты? - Ленин!
И тут остолбенели мужики.

Übersetzung

Lenin

A large, gnarly log
He broke into pieces with a swipe of a hand
And the hicks asked: - Who are you? – Lenin!
And the hicks were dumbfounded.

А почему broke into pieces? Он его просто развернул.

I know you are right about the written word, but we both know the next step in the future, so I thought it fits better. Now, I have two choices: to change the translation or add a letter P(oetic) to all my 3 versions. I think I'll go for the second solution, OK?

Hey, Israel, ma shlomha.
As a matter of principle, I put "P" on all my translations. Makes my life much easier.

I just started to do it partially. I think I'll adopt your method

>but we both know the next step in the future
Честно сказать, я не понял про next step. Речь здесь идет не о терроре, а об известной всем русским фотографии, картине и серии анекдотов на тему "Ленин на субботнике"

Речь совсем не о Брюсе Ли, крошащем кирпичи и поленья.

Sorry, didn't know it. In "next step" I meant his dealing with the opposition, in the second step you break it to pieces. Still, the letter P should cover it.

Just crossed my mind: it would be good to translate "сукатое" as "bitchy" ;-) Would be in tune with the genre.

You know by now, that often I go by sound (and quite often I am wrong). I took "сукатое" in Polish as "sękaty/a" just by association, which in back translation doesn't go to "сука" (suka in Polish) but to "сучковатая ветвь" if you believe GT. Well, luckily the almighty P letter covers this as well, but I won't touch it again as I feel I am already "walking on eggs" with your friends.
