La Metamorfosis

Cierto día Gregorio Samsa
se despierta con el aspecto
asqueroso de un gran insecto.
Acostado de boca arriba,
quiere darse vuelta y no puede,
¿qué carajo es lo que sucede?

Se hace tarde para el trabajo,
a la puerta su madre llama
y él está clavado en la cama.
No consigue encontrar sus brazos;
qué curioso, dónde se esconden,
y esas patas, que no responden.

Viene el resto de la familia;
todos juntos, de mal talante,
le reclaman que se levante.
Menos mal que él cerró la puerta
en la noche, antes de acostarse:
por un rato podrá ocultarse.

Pero oye la voz del jefe
que lo vino a buscar a casa
para ver qué es lo que le pasa.
"Vamos, vamos, Gregorio Samsa,
no me venga con cosas raras,
salga rápido y dé la cara".

El contesta que está en problemas,
pero nadie le entiende un pito:
sus palabras parecen gritos.
Ya no tiene cuerdas vocales;
de sus mandíbulas gigantes
manan líquidos repugnantes.

Finalmente, con gran esfuerzo,
se levanta y su boca acierta
a girar la llave en la puerta.
Antes de que todos lo vean,
piensa "si esto es un sueño loco
me despierto dentro de poco,

y si, en cambio, es verdad y a todos
al mirarme les viene un chucho,
no es mi culpa, lo siento mucho;
se tendrán que tomar la pena
de cuidar este par de antenas
y dejar de comprar Baygón.

The Metamorphosis

One day Gregor Samsa
wakes up with the disgusting
look of a giant insect.
Laying face up,
wants to turn around and he can't,
what the hell is going on?

It's getting late to work,
his mother is knocking on the door
and he's stuck in the bed.
He can't find his arms;
how curious, where do they hide,
and these legs, that don't respond.

The rest of the family comes;
all together, in a bad mood,
demand him to get up.
Just as well he closed the door
at night, before sleeping:
he can hide for a while.

But he hears the voice of the boss
who came home to look for him
to see what's going on.
"Come on, come on, Gregor Samsa,
don't come with weird things,
come out quickly and face us."

He answers that he's in troubles,
but nobody understands him:
his words sound like yellings.
He no longer has vocal cords;
from his giant jaws
nasty liquids flow.

Finally, with great effort,
he gets up and his mouth achieves
to turn the key of the door.
Before everyone could see him,
he thinks "if this is a crazy dream
I'll wake up soon,

and if instead it's true, and everyone
have a good scare by seeing me,
it's not my fault, I'm so sorry;
you'll have to carry the weight
of taking care of this pair of antennas
and stop buying Baygon."
