We’re in women’s country in Bigouden
Where the folks are happy and wipe themselves in mead.
Everyone’s ready, all the gang is here.
For a royal fiesta in August on the shingle!
We squat the beach, set up our camp
The shoreside neighbours’ noses are out of joint.
But as soon as we bring out the Correff
And crank up to the max
The box with the amps on overload
Suddenly they leave us alone!
The Gwen Ha Du flying with the Norman flag
Because this is the Great West!
We order a ton of pancakes from Servan’s shop
That’s Yann’s cousin, Erwan’s sister-in-law
Whose kids are all in the Breton movement schools.
We stuff our bellies worse than Shrove Tuesday:
Seafood, roast pork and a butter tart on top!
Then kick back, what else?
Checking out the girls on parade we sip our beers.
Then the evening rocks up, something’s going down,
We’ll have a blast unwinding at the festival.
We’re done up to the nines:
Saint James, unpleated Dockers.
Cocked and ready for the draw,
The first one to catch our eye gets his face rearranged!
Then all out the door at 200 clicks an hour.
To catch us they need to scramble a helicopter.
And we get to the farm, where the party’s already begun.
Here no one’s long-faced and everyone starts dancing.
Arm in arm to the sound of the pipes,
Ladies, want to dance with us?!
We burn up the floor like Breton Travoltas
While the pipers blow like cavemen.
Then bright and early next day
Our hearts in our boots
Commando session around Kerangoff,
A man who respects his pecs really wakes you up!
We’re off on a tour of the castle,
You see, we’re looking after our lands.
No greasy wrappers,
No slick from the Erika,
Keep Ma Bro clean, we’re not in Ankara!
We maintain the stonework, we respect the sea.
The BC gang is always on a war footing!

Bigouden (in Finistère, Brittany's 'Land's End') and Kerangoff (part of Brest) are placenames in Brittany, and this song contains some words in the Breton language, including the title 'Ma Bro' (My Country) and the Gwenn-ha-Du (Black-and-White), the national flag. Correff is a local beer, and I've translated for convenience some other terms quoted in Breton in the original: chouchen (mead), Diwan (the voluntary schools which teach in Breton), kouign-amann (butter tart), fest-noz (folkdancing evening), binioù (small bagpipes), and kêr, a citadel, which I take to mean here Ker-Stears château in Brest. Finally, the Erika was an oil tanker which released a spill on Brittany's beaches in 1999; and 'BC' stands for Basic Celtos, the band themselves. Sorry for the long explanation this entails, not to mention all the local colour I've drained from the lyrics!
