The Moonlight-Face Minstrel

O the moonlit face minstrel! Tell us what you heard
We are all confidant, Tell us what you saw
O our king and sultan! O our source of delight
Tell us what you achieved in the sanctuary of our souls
His vintner daffodil, O the one whom may God befriend
Tell us what you picked from his flower garden, last night
O the one I've lost of my hand, like my drunken heart
O the eye for everyone, tell us what you have chosen
You poured wine in the goblet, you provoked sedition
Tell us What key you are to the tavern1

  • 1. [Original word: Kharābāt, is a term in Persian poetry, sometimes used as a proverb. It has been suggested, as a possible etymological explanation, that the word was created as a combination of the two (exactly opposite) words kharab ("ruinous") and abad ("prosperous", also a suffix forming city names). for more info please see 🔗⤴ Kharabat - Wikipedia

Thanks for your attention and I'm glad you liked it. 🌷❤️

I tried my best to make the translation as simple and meaningful as possible, but its worth mentioning that these kind of "Mystical" poems can convey two or more different meanings and it's very hard to extract the meaning and express the feeling beneath the surface. 😢😥

As you mentioned correctly the first joy comes from the harmony, melody and, of course the fabulous voice of the singer Shahram Nazeri.

And also the orhestration ....the introduction was lifting the soul away to another transcendental dimension.

It was so nice and soothing 😍 thanks for sharing

For my ears it was so near to the eastern music, I felt some Egyptian or maybe Moroccan or Turkish tones in it

I wish I could have a Greek coffee ☕ while enjoying these kinds of music on the balcony of a cottage in Cyprus 😢😞
