Goodness Me

Goodness me! exclaimed the shrimp
Why am I far away from the ocean?
I'm being stupid
Alone on a plate,
And what's more, I have a toothache!

Blueberries and wheatgrass
Surely don't grow, ha ha
In the same field

Goodness me! said the weasel
I have to see a beautician.
My mind is made up
That a turned-up nose
Would give me a Roman profile!

Blueberries and wheatgrass
Surely don't grow, ha ha
In the same field

Goodness me! mourns the goat
Her milk turning to white cheese.
Because in the little city
It's her day of celebration
She, who didn't do her will!

Blueberries and wheatgrass
Surely don't grow, ha ha
In the same field

Goodness me! Now where was I heading,
To want to sing such a song?
It's not so stupid,
Even if it's rambling,**
Everyone understands it in their own way.

Blueberries and wheatgrass
Surely don't grow, ha ha
In the same field

"Villette" is a diminutive of "ville" and can refer to many places in France, including "Le quartier de la Villette" in Paris. This area of Paris is now famous for its large park, called "Le parc de la Villette" (or simply "La Villette"), but the park didn't exist at the time this song came out.

Not sure about the "blueberries" part. This is European French, isn't it more likely to be Cornflowers then?
Also would create the stronger contrast, cornflowers and wheatgrass (beautiful flowers and common grass) rather than fruit and grass.
