The Good Guys/The Good Kids

And I realized then, that I was okay
You didn't value me and you showed it with your actions
So what I realized was that I had no secrets
I realized that I had the depths of midnight eventually

However, the good guys don't lose
They get back that which they make
Because they have a clean conscience
The good guys do not break
Because they know to love
And whomever loves forgives

And I realized then, that I showed you what I feel
I put my chest forward, and you saw me as a target
So what I realized was that I had no secrets
From your heart, light keeps its distance

However, the good guys don't lose
They get back that which they make
Because they have a clean conscience
The good guys do not break
Because they know to love
And whomever loves forgives

I do not deserve you, because you do not know to appreciate
Pull those who hurt you and you will hurt yourself

Danke!

Thank you Regular smile I don't want to sound ungrateful but some lines don't make much sense in English. And you probably mean "chest", not "breasts" Regular smile

That's the point, you should never translate literally. We have Google for that.

its better to use with another word, to explain the meaning \ expression
not "literally" so we can understand exactly what it means Regular smile

You have to remember that, in English, "breast" is often used as a synonym for "chest"

FelicityFelicity    Fr, 18/11/2016 - 16:41

Look, I don't want to sound ungrateful since I'm the one who requested the translation but "breasts" is usually used for men when it is related to a medical situation. In any other case the word is "chest." Anyway, it not only that, there are some other lines that make no sense like "You didn't estimate when and you showed it in practice." Maybe he means something like "You didn't value me and you showed it with your actions"? But I can't be sure because I don't speak Greek.

crimsonDynamecrimsonDyname    Fr, 18/11/2016 - 23:12

That...is actually a better translation. Have you considered learning Greek?

FelicityFelicity    Sa, 19/11/2016 - 14:46

I have. I love Greek. But since I'm making attempts at studying it on my own, my progress is really slow.
Also, I believe that Δεν σου αξίζω means "You don't deserve me" not "I don't deserve you" which is δεν μου αξίζεις. So the meaning is "You don't deserve me because you don't know how to appreciate me."
As for the last line, the word Τράβα (I think) could mean Go (imperative), so.. I think he means something like "Go to those who hurt/wound you and make you feel pain." Not literal translation, but I think this is the true meaning.
Now back to the very first line and the word "εντάξει." Considering the overall context of the song, I believe here the intended meaning is "good." He is saying that he was a good person, not that he was "feeling okay." It was his "goodness" that wasn't valued.
Dictionaries work wonders.
Sorry if I come off rude, it's not my intention. It's just that I am a translator myself and very few things annoy me more than inaccurate translations.
