Сухие водкой смачивая губы.
Идут из Пакистана караваны,
И значит, есть работа для «тюльпана».

Very good link. Thanks. As we all know it is one thing to feel empathy, sympathy and quite another to go thru pain yourself. Both versions are excellent heartfelt translations for which I am greatful. The original is a masterpiece. I feel this way about Dylan's masters of war.

Dude, the problem I have with the other translation is that they are keeping to call black tulip a “body bag”, like they even had those in 1980-s in Soviet Army:
5. There is a common terminology amongst soldiers that they are the dead in body bags.
There is a slang meaning and distinguished meaning for the war dead.
A flight back home would be a 'black tulip flight', but it is not an aircraft nomenclature or given name. A 'flight' designates the purpose of a mission.
When the cargo aircraft off-loads then it will pick up a supply flight 'beans, bullets, and bandages'. That flight would be resupply/destination.
Flight destignators do not reflect aircraft type, configuration, name, or nomenclature.
—> A flight back home would be a 'black tulip flight' —> ??? This not the one only line misinterpreted in the #2 translation
And the reason I am ranting here is because Wwww is known as a mod who deletes all comments from their translations if they don’t like them

Ну и я тоже здесь выскажусь.
The memorial seen in the video is "The Black Tulip", in Ekaterinburg (Yekkaterinburg).
The black granite slabs are shaped as tulip petals.
Екатеринбург - мой родной город, и во всех описаниях этого памятника говорится, что металлические пилоны имитируют каркас фюзеляжа самолета.

Try to read his version again. It looks revised and very similar to this one. Don't get carried away by a footnote usually copied from some place.
Both versions I believe misunderstand

The official title of the song is "Monolog pilota "Chyornogo tulpana". But it's commonly known as "Chyorny tulpan". I preferred to edit the title as is now because most users worldwide would seek the lyrics under this very title so the song lyrics will get more hits, which is to the site benefit.
