Águas passadas

Um dia, o reponta de mágoa
Todo o meu olhar
E, então, houve uma gota de água
Por mim, deslizando.
Foi como un suave milagro
Em mim a acordar;
Doçuras de dor e ternura,
Torturas cantando...
Amor! Meu amor, dia a dia
De mim se perdendo!
Ai, dor! Minha antiga alegria
De mim se apartando!
Se for uma, for uma orgia
De vida, esquecendo
No dia, que foi de magia,
Sorrir-vos chorando!
Foi num dia de águas passadas
Movendo moinhos,
Nesse vento de velas aladas
Fazendo a canção
Desta história de mim e de ti;
A novela dum ninho!
E perdendo, é perdida de mim
A palavra perdão...
Se calhar, outro dia qualquer
Vou cantar-te ao ouvido
Tudo aquilo que a vida quiser,
Mas agora não sei
Dizer mais do que diga que canto,
Zangada comigo
E, contigo, sofrendo este espanto
Ao que me aconcheguei...

Running Waters

One good day, everything was filled with sorrow
By my eyes
And thus, there was a drop of water
Rolling all over me.
It was like a soft miracle
Awakening within me;
Sweet nothings of pain and tenderness,
Singing out torments...
Oh love! My love, day by day
Was being lost to me!
Oh, pain! My old happiness
Was leaving me!
If there was something, it was an orgy
Of life, forgetting
That day, which was filled with magic,
To smile at you while weeping!
It was on a day filled with running waters
That moved mills' wheels,
In that wind with winged sails
That wrote the song
Of this story that's both mine and yours;
A novel about a nest!
And losing, the word forgiveness
Is lost to me...
If by chance, some random day
I sing in your ear
All those things that life wished it had,
But now I don't know
How to say more than what it tells me to sing,
Angry with me
As, with you, it suffers this horror
To which I got so close...

Good morning, Marco!

I'm delighted by the fact that you like this. It is a lovely conjunction of a gorgeous song and a great singer, indeed. So, maybe it deserves translations into Italian and Sardinian? ;-)

Have a lovely day and an ever better weekend, my dear friend!

Kind regards,

It might be a good idea. But you always post so many good songs that i'm spoiled for choice Regular smile

You flatter me - however, with all the wonderful Sardinian songs and artists that you keep adding to the site, it isn't any wonder you don't have time to translate anything else. Regular smile

In fact, I think that I should try and translate some of those great songs into Catalan! Let me start today...

By my eyes (??)> to my eyes ?

MetodiusMetodius    Παρ, 19/08/2022 - 17:10

Good afternoon, Flora!

I believe that the meaning of those two lines is that the singer started seeing everything through a sorrow-tinged lenses and thus, the world was filled with sorrow by her eyes. The lyrics are a bit chaotic and incoherent, and I've had a bit of a difficult time translating them.

Anyway, I hope that this clarifies your query! Regular smile

Have a lovely day! Regular smile

Yes, I understand. Everything to her eyes seemed to be filled with sorrow.

I tried hard, but what I can't understand are the very first lines. Is "o aponta" a noun (the reoccurrence) or a verb (my look renews it)?

Good evening, Marco!

Repontar can mean to fill to the brim, to cover completely. It is a verb, but I must admit that the lyrics are a bit convoluted and are rather nonsensical in some passages. Sorry!

I hope that this helps!

Have a lovely weekend! Regular smile
