How about we brag a little about our own work, and appreciate someone else's?

Share a translation of your own making that you are proud of, and a translation made by another translator that you think is spectacular.

I think my best work might be either "You Are Beautiful", seeing as it got so much attention;
https://lyricstranslate.com/en/hinech-yafa-%D7%94%D7%99%D7%A0%D7%9A-%D7%...

Or "Once in a Lifetime" since I'm still proud of myself for coming up with the line 'If you're gone, you know I'm a goner'. I thought it fit perfectly and I have no idea where it came from;
https://lyricstranslate.com/en/paam-bakhayim-%D7%A4%D7%A2%D7%9D-%D7%91%D...

My favorite translation by another user is definitely "Everything Passes" by [@Sahar90]. Gives me chills every time I read it;
https://lyricstranslate.com/en/%D7%94%D7%9B%D7%9C-%D7%A2%D7%95%D7%91%D7%...

How about you? :)

The translations that I like the most from the ones I did are very variated. Most of the times I pick artists I like and translate their songs

Of my almost 3000 translations from Spanish to English I pick these ones:

This one because it's the longest
https://lyricstranslate.com/en/coplas-del-payador-perseguido-stanzas-pro...

This one because of the few singable translations I did, this one has consonant rhyme
https://lyricstranslate.com/en/el-muerto-vivo-living-dead-rhymed-transla...

This one for the tonguetwisting chorus, and because is a classic of my childhood
https://lyricstranslate.com/en/al-boton-de-la-botonera-chim-pum-fuera-bo...

This one because it still makes me laugh
https://lyricstranslate.com/en/mel%C3%B3n-y-melame-licky-and-lickme.html

This one was the hardest. I had to search a lot for equivalents in english.
https://lyricstranslate.com/es/41-pel%C3%ADculas-porno-41-porn-flicks.ht...

This one because of the use of the sayings
https://lyricstranslate.com/es/malditos-refranes-goddamn-proverbs.html

And all my translations of the Leo Masliah works (I'm a great fan of him). I have this collection of his tales (not his songs)
https://lyricstranslate.com/en/collection/leo-masliah-english-tales

-----------------------------------------------

Of the other translations I did I pick the translation of Despacito to Esperanto
https://lyricstranslate.com/en/despacito-malrapide.html

-----------------------------------------------

And about translations of other people, I appreciate some translations to other languages that aren't to english or portuguese, of Uruguayan artists. Specially this song.

cool topic.

I'd say for me, it's this one here:
https://lyricstranslate.com/en/cernunnos-cernunnos.html

And one done by someone else... that's a hard one since there's so many. But the ones that come to mind right now would be [@Enjovher]'s translations of "The Homeward Vow"; both in Spanish and Portuguese.

[@Hansi K_Lauer]'s German translation of "In the Eve"

[@Lobolyrix]'s German translation of "Fakamatala Langi"

And also [@Evfokas]'s English translation of the Greek National Anthem.

Recently I've come across this translation by an unregistered user: https://lyricstranslate.com/cs/Kdepak-ty-ptacku-hnizdo-mas-Kdepak-ty-pta... It's such a tremendous piece of, well, poetry I dare say (and at the same time it's very faithful), that it is a real pity he (or she) is not a member of this community…

Wow, it was my favourite song when I was a very very small kid. It's a great piece of poetry and music. And the film itself is lovely. But the translation is awful. It doesn't give credit to the song. I may make it into an English singable one day to remember the sweet days :)

It is the translation of Lensky's letter. I brag that I made a translation for a poem of Pushkin. Moreover, though I'm not a poet, I made a measured rhymed translation.

Aha.. and you obviously think the message of the original lyrics is perfectly clear :D The three options are a bit irritating and should not be there but that's just a negligible fault IMO. By the way, the movie is indeed fantastic, most of all thanks to the actor, who's playing Cinderella.

I remembered about one translation of mine, which I would really like to brag about, but since it's been stayed unnoticed in months I thought it's worhtless. I tried to make a rhymed and singable translation, and I worked on it for a long time and really hard, but... It's interesting how it happens sometimes, at least it happened to me. You do your best making a translation and when it's done you believe it's a bestseller or something and you're gonna got lots of thanks, but after you publish it - nothing happens at all, no thanks, no comments... So maybe it's really just some trash... So if you're interested in reading a Hebrew-to-Russian translation, and if by any chance you got a free minute and don't mind to look at it, then here it is, I would appreciate your opinion:

Shopping for compliments? When people view ones work, they don't bother thanking. If you feel good about your work, and you obviously do, it should be enough. If you ask people to look, they will give you feedback: mine is that your version was quite good and I enjoyed your translation.

Sorry - I picked English-to-German-translations:

Hi Flopsi!
You asked a difficult question - I can't answer with just 'yes' or 'no'. On the one hand, she is very sorrow, she came to the river and she says "if this love is deceitful, I'll never get over it" - so you might think that yes, she was thinking about throwing herself into the deeps of the river. On the other hand, her words "I'm proud, I'm strong", and the way she is singing and adressing to the river in diminutive all these give me a feeling that she wasn't thinking about a suicide. I guess the words "The water is so blue and deep down it's even bluer" is here to add some more drama to the song and they reflect her striving to know the truth about her lover, does he love her or not, which she can't achieve - the deeper she's trying to dig into it, the harder is for her to find the answers in her own soul. That's how I feel it myself...
