I have an idea that we need to create our own collections max 10 -15 items IMHO and tie it to profile publically (similar to favorites which are private)
Do you like this idea?
Profile feature request public list
I'm not entirely sure what you're suggesting. Is your idea that we have a public collection of our favourite songs on our profiles?
The objective is to share which of your translations you want to highlight when someone looks at your profile.
This thread originated in discussion with Andrew that he was particularly proud of one of his translations, but no one looked at it. I accidentally saw it because he happened to publish a comment when I was online.
Some of our translators have hundreds of titles and it would be great to let them create a public list so we could appreciate the best of the work representing them.
It can have hundreds of items - I am thinking of a collection = to your user ID and a button to show it. With a limited list of items, you can introduce those who are interested to your best work or lyrics particularly meaningful to you.
I agree with BlackSea4ever, but for me it is still unclear how to realise it. I see it like a block of "My favourite translations" in the user's profile. When somebody comes to your profile, they would see this block along with "languages" block and "translations" block and others. Some kind of a prompt block, saying: "Hey, thank you for coming, would you like to see my best items?"
The problem with using the Translations visibility tag for this kind of thing is that some users wish to highlight favourite translations without removing the others from the profile. So I think this is a good idea. Not sure that I would necessarily use it myself but clearly others would like the option.
With minimum of coding, it would be to create a collection = your user ID and just add a button to display it. I particularly like that in the collection entry you can leave comments, if you wanted to do so, for a a particular item.
I think it's a great idea!
I think it should work like a YouTube channel - on the profile homepage the chosen translations would be shown, and by clicking on a button you could see all of them, just as on a YouTube channel you have the "Homepage" and the "Videos" tabs.
It still seems like something that can be accomplished by making a collection and linking to it in your profile, though (or by using the aforementioned visibility feature).
(or by using the aforementioned visibility feature).
The visibility feature hides translations entirely from your profile, while the feature suggested here is about a small number of songs which are highlighted in your profile, without hiding the others.
Yes, but did you see how many collections st. Mark has?
I am not going to recite others quite prolific wonderful translators...
And this is specific to introduce oneself with a short list by which you show what you deem your best work or what touched you the most.

You can still see the "hidden" translations of any user by clicking on "all translations" on their profile, though.

I have a collection of my poetic translations - no one to stop you from making one of your favorite works of yourself.
And by linking to it in your profile, it also doesn't get as buried under the multitude of other collections.
How do you link a collection to your profile?
Click on "edit" on your profile, go to either the "About me" or the "Interests" field, paste a link to the collection in there (using some HTML if you wanna have some words instead of the link), add a description of your choice, and click on save.
Maybe also add your suggestion to FAQ
Well, the HTML-tags are mentioned in the website rules, and the FAQ mention how you can personalize your profile.
