I don't know if that link will work but it's the draft of a translation I'm working on, of 'this man he weeps tonight' by the Kinks. Here is the troublesome line:

"I thought our thing would last
Cause it said so in my horoscope
The days have gone and past while dreaming away"

Now 'our thing' in this instance means 'our relationship', 'our love' etc. Now would 'unser Ding' mean the same thing? One would assume not. Can anyone think of a good vague way of referring to 'our love' in German? Thanks

Incidentally if you see any mistakes in the translation so far please tell me

The only thing that comes near to it may be " unsere Sache", but I would prefer "unsere Beziehung".
