I've recently been putting up some original work of mine on this site in various languages and recently I came across something interesting. I found that my work was being posted without anyone even asking me on various sites. I'm fine with posting my work on other sites; I just would like to know where it's going. The troubling part is that for some reason my computer said that the majority of these sites have viruses on them . . . I used a Linux computer and an Oracle Solaris computer to view these sites, being that the malware was supposedly infectious to Windows systems. As a test, I put up a poem I wrote a while ago in Spanish, "En busca de almas", and waited to see how long it would be uploaded to one of these sites. In less than thirty minutes it was posted on this site (with malicious software on it) and I traced back the sender to their exact address. Can the person who's doing this kindly send me a private message to address this? I also have your name and email . . . so please just contact me before I have to invade your privacy . . . Tchau ;)

. . Tchau ;)

It's probably a bot that's scraping the site for content and not a real person. I'm not sure how much you can do about things like that.

I assumed that. However, unluckily for the person who made them they all lead to the same source . . . In fact, I even have a picture of their face.

Sorry to hear this happened to you... What I could suggest is that if you know who they are, you could write a PM to lt and they'll be banned - we definitely do not encourage stealing translations.

But copy + paste they could do without having an account...

Which sites contain the malware? I sometimes look for lyrics via google and would like to know if there are lyrics sites that contain malware...

I wouldn't suggest going on these sites but some of the few examples I do remember are: letra24.top (Portuguese/English), letra365.top (Spanish/English), versuri.club (Romanian/English), and tekst-piosenki.info (Polish/English). The person who made these sites is a Hungarian software engineer named Krisztian Molnar who works at AdNovum in Budapest. He registered these sites in the Hungarian city of Szeged and in fact I even have pictures of his face. I think there might be bots posing as users on this site . . . for example check out: https://lyricstranslate.com/en/translator/marineclerot. There are a bunch of them. I don't know if these are bots for sure but I just find it oddly suspicious that there is a large number of them and that they were last active December 31, 1969 when they registered on days like February 11, 2013 . . .

I've just checked whois and indeed it's the same person. Do you mean this nice looking guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H71BCsM73ZE ?

I guess he steals only the lyrics, but not the translations. Am I correct? (I'm not going to check these sites.)

He steals only lyrics but that isn't him. I also notice that he hasn't only stolen my original work but also Phantasmagoria and SilentRebel83's work too. This guy is more saavy so he hides himself well on the web . . . I have a link to his LinkedIn here if you want to take a look: https://hu.linkedin.com/in/kriszti%C3%A1n-moln%C3%A1r-35576a117. I'm not sure how to upload the picture of him but his LinkedIn has a picture of him . . .

I was of course kidding. I’ve found him on LinkedIn too. I was afraid to check these sites that you mentioned, but what I noticed from Google search at least he gives credits to the authors.

I would advice you to write similar comments about your copyrights like I have them in my profile and they are automatically shown beneath my translations. Of course that doesn’t guarantee anything, but some people get frightened seeing them. Maybe bots check them too.

You should write to Lt (here you will find the “send PM” link: https://lyricstranslate.com/en/translator/lt) and describe the situation. Its important to give the link to all the users’ accounts that you suspect to be bots, like the one that you’ve linked, so that the admins could check them before they get deleted.

[@O.A. Ramos] If possible, can you send me a PM to where you've seen him post my translations? Also please send me his contact information, does he only know Hungarian? Thank you.

I just want to contact him to let him know I didn't give him permission, then I'm going to find a way to have copy + paste disabled somehow, or hide a disclaimer in the lyrics themselves. I'm not bothered that he'd steal my translations, just a little insulted that he wouldn't ask first. Welp, that's the internet for you.

Ellen, for sure he speaks English, but I'm afraid he may ignore you. If that happens the best way would be to threaten him that you would inform his bosses that he operates few sites which violate the copyrights and it means his activity must be seen as illegal. As he's a software specialist he knows very well what he's doing and I don't think his company would be happy because of their worker's activity and that may cost him his job.

On tekstowo.pl I found this: http://www.tekstowo.pl/piosenki_artysty,silentrebel83.html

I have added Josh as an author there - with his agreement - and the first of the listed translations. Adamusap (http://www.tekstowo.pl/profil,adamusap,dodane_tlumaczenia,strona,1.html) has submitted the rest.

This guy has also copied many translations from LT. Just some examples (Azalia): http://www.tekstowo.pl/piosenka,lax_n_busto,no__s_massa_tard.html and http://www.tekstowo.pl/piosenka,els_catarres,sota_la_llum_del_sol.html
or: (Solitude): http://www.tekstowo.pl/piosenka,ithilien,through_wind_and_snow.html
or (W-cztery-oczy): http://www.tekstowo.pl/piosenka,rebeka_dremelj,ne_bo__se_igral.html and http://www.tekstowo.pl/piosenka,rebeka_dremelj,pojdi_z_menoj.html
and many more - also of other our users. This list is very long.

He has added the links, but I am not sure whether the authors would agree with that. The same of course applies to the lyrics itself. We had a case on LT when an author didn’t agree to publish her lyrics here and we were forced to unpublish them.

I showed you these examples, but it’s up to the users to decide whether they agree to copy their work on other sites. I don’t and that’ clearly visible beneath my translations, but others may agree.

On a hunch, I performed a Google search with my username here on LT. And I saw that my works were re-published on different sites which I won't list here for security reasons stated in earlier comments. But some of my poems were re-posted with permission as Andrzej mentioned.

I personally have no problems with it. As a fellow member has said in his signature on LT, "Do whatever you want with my translations. I'm not rich enough to sue you anyway."
Sadly, I fall under the same predicament. ;)

edit: Many thanks to [@Sciera] and [@aldefina] [Andrzej] for bringing my attention to this thread :)

Actually it's not a problem for me when people copy my translations, but only when they add my copyrights, the same way as I do it here. The thing is they usually don't do it. So far only twice I was asked whether they can and I agreed.

In one case my translation landed on YT, but it was removed quickly after I had asked. The worst site is tekstowo.pl. I'm also registered as a user there and all my attempts to unpublish my stolen work failed. Moderators ignored me. I found a different way. I ask them to add my copyrights and they accept that.

[@O.A. Ramos] I got your PM, thank you.

I don't really care at this point, my translations aren't a work of art. Although I'm proud of them (although not always satisfied with them), I honestly don't give two figs ;) what they do with them, I just find it kinda rude but okay.
