To any speakers of Serbo-Croat, how would I translate 'to trip over something', and would the thing being tripped over take the accusative or locative case?
I can't seem to get a definite answer from scouring the web or my small dictionary.
Many thanks in advance!

Zdravo Regular smile I add some examples about "to trip over something", sorry this 2 are the only examples I could think for now
Ok, let's start Regular smile  The object being tripped over would be an accusative:

In Eng: I tripped over a rock
In Bosnian/Serbian/Croatian:
- In feminine script: Spotakla sam se o kamen
- In masculine script: Spotakao sam se o kamen

In Eng: I tripped over a banana peel
In Bosnian/Serbian/Croatian:
- In feminine script: Spotakla sam se o koru od banane
- In masculine script: Spotakao sam se o koru od banane

It's been a while since I finished school, to be completely honest, so I had to brush up on cases (padeži). As you probably know, we have seven of them, so it's often a nightmare to differentiate them even for native speakers. It goes so far that certain regions (Southern part of Serbia - Niš, Leskovac, Pirot, Vranje) use only one or two cases instead of all seven. I can't find any useful links on this phenomenon in English, it's only vaguely mentioned here. I hope this helps. Have a nice day and stay safe!

Thanks a bunch!

Ranije u životu sam mogao tečno govoriti na srpskohrvatskom ali nažalost, ne živim na Balkanu više i ovaj je jedini site gdje dnevno upotrebljavam jezik. Još uvijek mi je lakše govoriti na engleskom jer si totalno u pravu da su padeži kao mali košmari! Samo imati dva bi bilo mnogo lakše Tongue smile

Enjoy your day and hope you're staying safe too!
