Never Be Alone Anymore

"I'm sitting at the bar alone again
Like almost every night
I've already sworn so many times
That this will be the last time.

But it draws me there time and again
Why don't I find peace and quiet?
When will I ever find the person
With whom I can share everything -
When will I find you?

Never to be alone anymore
Like others in couples
Do I expect too much of life?
Never to be alone anymore
When is it going to happen
When will I ever reach my goal?

I play the laughing clown to all
Who knows my true face?
I only want to laugh with you
I want to make you happy
Give my life purpose
Some purpose

I will look for you again tonight
Because at night when everyone is asleep
I miss you the most

I'll never give up wherever I may be
Don't give up looking for me either
And if I don't recognise you
Just give me a sign
Because I need you."

Never to be alone anymore
To be a pair like others
Do I expect too much of life?
Never to be alone anymore
When will I be so at last
When will I ever reach my goal?

I'm sure that you're waiting for me somewhere
You feel the same as I do
My door is open to you
All I can do now is hope
Because tears are no help to me
No help

Never to be alone anymore
To be a pair like others
Do I expect too much of life?
Never to be alone anymore
When will I be so at last
When will I ever reach my goal?

Hi azucarinho,

I see that you've requested proofreading for this song, so I've included some recommended changes below as well as an explanation for why I'm suggesting the change. If you have any questions about any of these suggestions, feel free to ask.

1. Never to be alone anymore --> Never be alone anymore
It's not grammatically correct, to have the word "to" in there.

2. As almost every night --> like almost every night
"As" is used when making comparisons (She is as tall as me). When things are the same, it should be "like." He's saying that this night is the same as almost every other night.

3. To be a pair like others --> Like others in couples
Grammar correction, same as #1.
If referring to inanimate objects, pairs would be fine, but since he's talking about people it sounds strange. We would say "couples" here.

4. When will I be so at last --> when is it going to happen?
Although "so" in English can be a direct translation from "so" in German, that usage is very antiquated, so would generally only be appropriate for authors like Shakespeare or Goethe.

5. I play the laughing clown tp all -- to all
Just a typo.

6. Give my life its purpose --> Give my life purpose
This isn't reflexive or possessive in English.

7. For at night when all is asleep --> Because at night when everyone is asleep
Same as #4, "for" is an antiquated translation for "denn," for modern speech we say "because."
"All is" isn't the correct conjugation, it could be said "all are" but that also sounds very antiquated. "Everyone is" is more appropriate for this context.

8. Don't you give up looking for me as well --> Don't give up looking for me either
The addition of the word "you" here confuses the meaning (sounds like a question) and isn't needed.
"As well" and "too" are for affirmative statements, "neither" or "either" are for negative. For example: "I'm going as well" (affirmative) versus "I'm not going either" (negative).

9. And should I fail to recognise you --> And if I don't recognise you
"Should I fail to" is too antiquated for this context.

10. For I need you. --> because I need you
Same as #7.

11. All I can do now is hoping --> All I can do now is hope
Incorrect conjugation: "I am hoping" vs. "I can hope."

12. For tears are of no help to me / No help --> Because tears don't help me / don't help
"Of no help..." is antiquated, the literal translation is more accurate.
