My interest in languages started from my passion for Disney and especially from the work I've led on my YouTube channel during these years, where I upload my own adaptations of songs (but not only!). I love to adapt song lyrics because when I do it I feel like I'm doing not only a sort of service to the original lyricist, but also a service to the ones who will be able to enjoy easier that one song because it will be in their own language. In addition, when I adapt I can use my originality and my ideas to make the new lyrics fit the original melody keeping as far as possible original message, metric system, etc.
Translating is something that came in later. I love to do it not only because it's a good way to practise the languages I know or I study, but because I know that's an important service we can offer to all those people who can't speak a foreign language or that are starting to learn. In this case, originality has to been cut out because my aim will be to be as close as possible to the original words of the author, changing and adapting them only if it will be really necessary because of the target language (idiomatic expressions, puns, cacophony, etc.). Using footnotes is always a good idea whenever possible.
I'm a linguist student from Italy studying mainly German and Hungarian. My specialization is in "Comparative Languages and Literatures".
