אֲנִי קָרֵב, אֲנִי רָחֵק - לַֹשָּוְא;

lyrics: T. Carmi
music: Haggai Nachtumi

your hand is smaller than mine.
but I see your body
from the end of the world to the end of the world.

you speak in silence.
I hear your voice
like nightly thunder over the sea.

the augmentation casts fear.
I draw closer, I withdraw - in vain;
the letters shed their form.

there is no deception in you.
but you lie in wait for me in all the passages
between the suns, between dog and wolf.

Author's comments:

The "I" is male, the "you" is female.

"between dog and wolf" is from the Latin phrase "inter canem et lupum", meaning "at twilight".
