My name is Juliane
It all began with this,
I sang in a talent show,
and the gentlemen of the jury thought,
my voice seemed very good.
You put me behind a microphone
And put headphones on me
And after much trying and practicing
My first record was (made).
Soon both of us are on the television,
my guitar and me,
with terrible stage-fright,
but the audience liked my song.
And Mr. Schmidt, our postman, very amazed,
there was suddenly so much mail for me,
and reporters were calling at home
and asking, well, how do you feel?

and I sing what pleases me,
cheerful songs and sad songs
(about)our not so perfect world.

I feel alone and empty.
Then we go again into the dark hall
