John Newton - Amazing Grace (Short Version) (Chewa translation)

Amazing Grace (Short Version)

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.
’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.

Chisomo chodabwitsa

Chisomo chodabwitsacho,

Ndapeza moyo ‘ne.

Mantha a imfayo
Pakukhulupirira ‘Ye,
Ambuye Yesuyo.
Chisomo chandisungadi,

Chisomo chidzasunga ‘ne

Kwathu ndidzaimba nyimbo
Ya chisomo chake,

The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable. (Prov 25:3 KJV)

Author's comments:

here is a word-for-word translation of the chichewa version:

Amazing grace
Has save me
The greatest sinner
I have found life

This grace has removed
Fear of death
When believing in Him
Lord Jesus

Grace keeps me
On my path
Grace will keep me
Until we arrive home

In heaven we will sing songs
Of his grace
Praising God
For ever.
