Baldosas

Tiles
How to accept I was a slave
Living in my dream, locked away
Charon* at my door arrived early
When my life started, so my clock stopped
I lay down on the growing grass that can't stay put
I let my dreams die and I made the assumption I was mad
counting how many times the blades of my fan turned
these last two summers I experienced more coldness than warmth
Dreams are just dreams a brilliant man** told me
with all due respect sir, I already knew that
I do not believe in books that tell me how I should think
though I run away from fate, things won't go bad for me ever again
I walk down the street avoiding to step on the tiles***
It's not a mania, it's because damaging them causes me uneasiness
I do not believe in people who tell me that unreal things do not exist
though I run away from fate, things won't go bad for me ever again
How to accept I was a slave
Living in my own time, forgotten
Under the shade of the flowers I learnt to breath
mixing the colours and ending up dreaming in black
Dreams are just dreams a brilliant man told me
with all due respect sir, I already knew that
I do not believe in books that tell me how I should think
though I run away from fate things won't go bad for me ever again
I walk down the street avoiding to step on the tiles
It's not a mania, it's because damaging them causes me uneasiness
I do not believe in people who tell me that unreal things do not exist
though I run away from fate things won't go bad for me ever again (x2)

Russia is waging a disgraceful war on Ukraine. Stand With Ukraine!
*Charon or Kharon: the ferryman from Greek mythology who carries the souls across the river Acheron; Death.
**Another reference to Charon, whose name means "intense brightness" in Greek, but now it is believed that the name actually means "gaze of fire". I'm not sure, but I think the song is a criticism to a writter. Somebody whose book destroyed the dreams of the character in the song, and she compares him to Charon, Death or the Grim Reaper.
***Floor tiles: these are commonly made of ceramic or stone. Ceramic tiles may be painted and glazed. Small mosaic tiles may be laid in various patterns. Floor tiles are typically set into mortar. The spaces between the tiles are nowadays filled with sanded or unsanded floor grout, but traditionally mortar was used. Many streets in Latin America and Spain are decorated in this way.
