Boromir's Riddle

Seek for the Sword that was broken:
In Imladris it dwells;
There shall be counsels taken
Stronger than Morgul-spells.

There shall be shown a token
That Doom is near at hand,
For Isildur's Bane shall waken,
And the Halfling forth shall stand.

  • Imladris:

    Rivendell, or Imladris, was an Elven town in the Misty Mountains on the eastern edge of Eriador. Because of its location, it was called "The Last Homely House East of the Sea" from the point of view of a traveller going to the Misty Mountains and Wilderland; and also the First Homely House from the point of view of someone coming from these lands to the civilised lands of Eriador to the west. (Tolkien Gateway)

  • Morgul:

    Morgul is a Sindarin noun meaning "black arts, sorcery, necromancy". (Tolkien Gateway)

  • Doom:

    Melkor created Mount Doom in the First Age, and the name "Mordor" may have been given to the surrounding land before Sauron settled there because of its eruptions. When Sauron chose the land of Mordor as his dwelling-place in the Second Age, Orodruin was the reason for his choice. He "used the fire that welled there from the heart of the earth in his sorceries and his forging." The most famous result of his forging, and in fact the only one we know of for sure, was the One Ring. (Tolkien Gateway)

  • Isildur's:

    Isildur was born in Númenor in S.A. 3209. He was the elder son of Elendil, son of Amandil, the last Lord of Andúnië. (Tolkien Gateway)

  • Halfling:

    Halflings was a name for Hobbits used by Men; it was originally given to them by the tall Dúnedain who had stood two rangar tall, making the average Hobbit about half their height. The name was used by Gondorians in the Third Age, which they learned from their northern cousins although they knew them only by name; they never had seen a halfling, until Peregrin Took became the first who visited Minas Tirith. By the War of the Ring however, the Gondorians were shorter than their ancestors since the line of the Kings ended, and the halflings were more than half of their height. (Tolkien Gateway)

O Enigma de Boromir

Procure a Espada que foi quebrada:
Em Imladris ela está;
Mais fortes que de Morgul encantos
Conselhos lhe darão lá.

E lá um sinal vai ser revelado
Do Fim que está por vir
E a Ruína de Isildur já acorda,
E o Pequeno já vai surgir.

Thanks!
