Louder Than Bombs lyrics
Louder Than Bombs
This line is a direct reference to RM’s 2016 verse from “2! 3! (Still Wishing For More Good Days)”:
"Let’s only walk on flower trails I can’t say that Let’s only see good things I can’t say that either Saying that there will only be good things from now on Saying that you won’t get hurt I can’t say that I can’t lie like that"
- Louder than bombs I break:
The phrase “louder than bombs…” progresses throughout this song to tell a story of growth. It begins, here, with louder than bombs, I break. With life’s many struggles, when things fall apart they fall apart brutally. BTS compare pain to the sound of bombs, something unbearably loud and destructive. They say this with a sense of defeat, as if the only thing they can do is carry the pain in submission.
- Everyday’s a maze
Wonder if this is my place:
This is a nod to their previous track “Love Maze”:
All around us is a maze, different paths We’re walking in this abyss There’s a thin light over there I hope we’re going toward paradise
- Where’s my way?:
Here J-hope directly referencing his solo track “Outro: Ego”
"That way, way, way Wherever my way"
“None of this is a coincidence Because we’re the two who found our destiny DNA” it may refer to their song DNA ,where they talk about the link between BTS and ARMY; the relationship they have with their fans, how we feel the sadness and the pain together but also the happiness.
This may be referring to shadow. They had been trying to run away from their shadows but now they’ve faced them and aren’t afraid anymore.
Yoongi might be trying to say that the haters disregard the pain BTS talk about in their music is a lie, as they’re successful, which the haters believe numbs you to pain.
- No matter what I do 똥밭에 구르네:
Korean Lyrics:
"No matter what I do 똥밭에 구르네"
“똥밭에 구르다” literally meaning “to roll on a field of feces.”
It comes from a Korean idiom:
"똥밭에 굴러도 이승이 낫다" - "Even if you roll on a field of feces, this world is better than the otherworld"
It is an expression used to mean that it is better to live than to die, no matter how harsh it may be. It talks about the preciousness of life.
An English equivalent to this may be:
"Better a living coward than a dead hero."
