I'm trying to translate one song from Spanish into English, but I'm stucked in the next sentece:

"puestos a hacer el loco, mereces más que eso".

The second part is clear, but the first one is where I'm having problems.. Should it be: "when it comes to do crazy things, you deserve more than that" or is there any other way to say "puestos a hacer el loco"?

Thanks in advance :)

"puestos a..." means "while..."
"ya que te haces el loco, mereces más que eso"

But I hear "puestas ser el loco".

I read it as - ready - Ready to go crazy, ready to do a foolish thing.

I hear "puestas ser el loco, mereces más que eso" which I understand to be, "committed as crazy, deserve better than that."

Sorry I didn't say which song it was. It is "48 horas" from Vega (Spain).

I really hear "puestos a hacer el loco", but maybe the way of spelling it is a little bit special inside the rythm of the song. "puestas hacer el loco" does not make sense. I understood it like "if we are going to be crazy / if we are going to do crazy things.."

Thanks for your suggestions :)

mereces más que eso means deserve better than that, of course you would be understood in the context or else it would be tu mereces más que eso.
puestas ser el loco is the only context that makes sense and after listening again, I still hear the same thing. The closest I can come in understanding and translating that sentence is committed as crazy, deserve better than that. Again "you" is understood in contextual meaning. So it would be something like "committed as crazy, (you)deserve better than that."
I had already found the song.
Hope I helped at least a little bit. :)

Yeah, it helped :) thanks.
But I really don't understand "puestas ser el loco" in Spanish XD neither when she says it neither the sense in Spanish.
Thanks a lot anyway :)

yes, I admit it is not normal to say it that way. Perhaps a dialectic variation. I had to look up a synonym to come up with a reasonable meaning. I've never heard the expression put that way.
My pleasure, I enjoy a challenge.

I can assure you, it's just a matter of word connections. You know, in Spanish we have the tendency to connect the words:

"Puestos a hacer el loco" / "Puestosacer el loco" maybe this can sound as "Puestas ser.." but believe me she really says the first sentence :)

Anyway, and again, thanks for your help and your comments :)

Hehehe! Thanks a lot rainymoon :) I know the meaning since I'm Spanish :) but my doubt was how to express it correctly in English ;)

Yeah, it's curious how this expressions with "hacer el..." works. Look, in Spanish we have some others with animals too:

"hacer el ganso" - lit. "to do the goose" - to do silly things
"hacer el gamba" - lit. "to do the shrimp" - to fool around

Thanks for your help too :)

"Puestos" o "dispuestos" (decididos) = ready/decided to act...
