"Ich hab aufgehört, mir meine Liebe zu schenken" --> "sich etwas schenken" is idiomatic, it means that someone stays away from something or doesn't do something (even though he/she is supposed or expected to), usually with a feeling of relief [so basically, "ich schenke es mir" expresses that I make myself a present of not doing it]; maybe "renoncer" works better here? --> "J'ai cessé de renoncer à mon amour".

EDIT: nier is more about not willing to see it, doing as it wouldn't exist
and renier is more about not believing in this love anymore

there is an idea of actively fighting it, that there is not in the first proposition

Auch die Diskussion über "mir meine Liebe zu schenken" ist ja sehr ernsthaft geführt, obgleich diese Aussage auch im Deutschen etwas merkwürdig ist. Ich hatte mir das Lied vorher angehört, scheint aber leider richtig wieder gegeben zu sein. Das kann dann nur bedeuten, wie mk87 richtig geschrieben hat, sie will wieder lieben, sie verzichtet darauf nicht mehr zu lieben.
