Povej mi, kaj bi rada (English translation)

Povej mi, kaj bi rada

Povej mi kaj bi rada
zaplavala si v moje žile,
kjer so druge sled pustile
tako si še mlada.

Povej mi kaj bi rada
da skočim v ta prepad le zate
in pred smrtjo mislim nate
tako si še mlada.

Kot vino pil sem to življenje
in vsako noč sem bil pijan
s srečo vedno spi trpljenje
in zato ostal sem sam.

To je zadnji ples za mene
zadnji skok v nemirno morje
daj mi vse da me zadene še to noč.
Ti ne boš me razumela
da je moj prijatelj strah,
šla boš stran in jaz ostal bom tu kot prah.

Povej mi kaj bi rada
da ljubim te kot da si prva
in zagorim kot suha drva,
tako si še mlada.

Kot vino pil sem to življenje
in vsako noč sem bil pijan
s srečo vedno spi trpljenje
in zato ostal sem sam.

Bil sem slep vsa ta leta
in ne vem kaj sem iskal
čisto vse sem si vzel
in premalo malo dal.

To je zadnji ples za mene
zadnji skok v nemirno morje
daj mi vse da me zadene še to noč.
Ti ne boš me razumela
da je moj prijatelj strah,
šla boš stran in jaz ostal bom tu kot prah.

Tell me what you want

Tell me what you want
You swam in my veins
Where others have left a trace
You are still so young

Tell me what you want
So that I'll jump into this abyss just for you
And before death I'll think of you
You are still so young

I've been drinking this life like wine
And every night I have been drunk
Suffering always sleeps with happiness
And so I remained alone

This is the last dance for me
The last jump into the choppy sea
Give me everything so that I can get high tonight
You won't understand me
That fear is my friend
You will go away and I will stay here as dust

Tell me what you want
So that I'll love you like you are the first
And I'll begin to burn like thin wood
You are still so young

I've been drinking this life like wine
And every night I have been drunk
Suffering always sleeps with happiness
And so I remained alone

I've been blind all these years
And I don't see what I was searching for
I simply took everything for myself
And gave too little

This is the last dance for me
The last jump into the choppy sea
Give me everything so that I can get high tonight
You won't understand me
That fear is my friend
You will go away and I will stay here as dust

Just one correction:

"s srečo vedno spi trpljenje" means "suffering always sleeps with happiness", so it's something along the lines of "with happiness always comes suffering".

As for "daj mi vse da me zadene še to noč", I'm still not sure if that is what it actually means, but it seems fitting.

Hi, thanks Regular smile Unfortunately I found all the same sources, but in this sentence he's not using "zadeti se" but only "zadeti".
"Daj mi vse da me zadene še to noč". "Nekaj ga zadene", unless it can be used transitively, that something makes one high? But it's hard to find an actual example of a phrase like this.

Whoops, sorry, I was reading "me" for "se". Tongue smile I guess then it's "will hit/strike me tonight" but then I'm not totally sure what it *means*.

Hopefully a native speaker can shed some light!

I hope so, too, although native Slovenes seem to sadly be a rare resource here.

Hey! Judging from the context, ''daj mi vse, da me zadene še to noč'', the translation could either be a) give me everything, so that it hits me tonight (as in kills me) or b) give me everything, so that I get high tonight. It's hard to tell, especially because that verse ends with ''jaz ostal bom tu kot prah'' (I will stay here as dust), which doesn't necessarily mean that he is going to die, it could also mean that he'll stay there and be worthless (like dust?).
Plestenjak's songs often contain a play on words and lines that aren't completely clear, not even to native speakers, but both of the meanings work and make sense in my opinion.

Also a thanks from my side, of course!
