Love Is Not A Game

Love is not a game, stop it1
I started the flame of this hot love in you
I don't need you anymore, please leave
Just forget me and just forgive me... (x2)

I'm ready to forget it all, forgive it all
To not give a damn, but I can't sleep without her2
Her image is constantly on my mind
I believed that rings would bind us to the end3

I dream of touching her lips again
To fall asleep with her today, and not wake up tomorrow
To squeeze her hand tight, to whisper "I love you"
To look into her eyes, get drunk on them, drown4

I see her smile in my dreams at night
Falling asleep without her, I wake up
You know, I often miss you5
You know, I want you to know

I believed you too much
Sent you running down my veins
I'm sick...with you now6
I don't need such love at all

Love is not a game, stop it
I started the flame of this hot love in you
I don't need you anymore, please leave
Just forget me and just forgive me... (x2)

I forgave all your weaknesses
You took notice of dumb things and mistakes7
I shared successes equally with you
You and I are different like the earth and the sky

Nights without sleep, calls without answer,
Love is a lottery, and you're happy somewhere
I'm the loser, having risked more than once
I'm unlucky, it's time to understand it

On edge, I'm probably the guilty one8
You taught me not to believe words
I let a bitch into my heart
Now I hurt so much inside

I believed you too much
Sent you running down my veins
I'm sick...with you now
I don't need such love at all

Love is not a game, stop it1
I started the flame of this hot love in you
I don't need you anymore, please leave
Just forget me and just forgive me... (x2)

Love isn't a game!

  • 1. a. b. More literally, "they(people) don't play with love"
  • 2. That first phrase is very commonly used to mean that you don't care about something, e.g. "плевать мне на этo" = lit. "I spit on it/this" = "idgaf abt this"
  • 3. Wedding rings?
  • 4. Actually that last part is more accurately "while getting intoxicated (by them), drown in them" but that's kinda long and awkward isn't it
  • 5. Actually the "you" isn't specified here, the original text by itself literally means "I miss"/"I'm lonely"
  • 6. As in illness, not as in "tired of you".
  • 7. Lit. "noticed", but the implication here is that while he was forgiving, she noticed every small thing to nitpick
  • 8. First part lit. "on the nerves", not quite sure how else I'm supposed to translate it :^(
Thanks!
thanked 3 times

Please, do not use annotations to point out mistakes, this is not what annotations are for. If you wish to report mistakes in some lyrics, leave a comment under this thread and an editor or mod will correct the lyrics fairly soon: https://lyricstranslate.com/en/forum/incorrect-information-lyricstitleso...

Please, remove your annotations from this song and do not abuse them again. Thank you for understanding.

#3 is indeed about wedding rings.
Great job as always!

You're right about that first one, though I'm not sure how to adapt it to the way it's conjugated there, hmm...because it implies "to " and I'm not sure how to translate the idiom into such a form. Thoughts?
That second one has the wrong meaning though)) "I'm sick of you" is basically "I'm tired of you", but in the original it seems to be talking about the medical kind of sick?

maybe "don't give a damn" ?) as variant ))
