Has Lyricstranslate experienced a decline in page views?

It seems my translations used to get more page views than they are getting now, and this seems to be affecting the entire site.

I checked on Alexa and it appears that the website's overall internet ranking has been going down.

You are still getting any page views? Only certain quid pro quo in-group members ("friends") here get mutual page views, thanks, etc.

I mean, compared to 2 or 3 years ago, I think there is less site traffic than there was back then.

St. Sol, I kindly ask you to drop this attitude and stop insulting everyone on this site who has friends. I find it sickening that now you are able to turn any page you visit into "no one thanks me anymore" plead. You never objected thanks or votes when it was beneficiary for you.

I haven't really paid much attention to it except that there might have been a steady decline starting from last year (in around November or December) up until now. There does seem to be a period of both decline and activity on the site.

I think I used to get something like 10 views a day per translation but since a) I stopped translated as much and b) am not as active recently, those views have gone down to virtually 0.

There is one notable exception. The translation I did for ''Un musicien parmi tant d'autres'' still gets lots of page views because that entire French-language song was prominently featured on an English-language TV show called Letterkenny and many English speakers want to know what the lyrics mean.

I myself do not translate songs which generally would be target of attention, so I don't usually worry about my views. I honestly translate songs because I like it, not because I want people noticing me and giving me attention - I don't even remember when I received my last vote, it must have been a year or so ago (but I also do not keep track of it). But it's curious that when it comes to songs that are part of something 'big', like music festivals, my translations usually have more views.

Hit a soft spot, didn't I, Schnurrbrat? Perhaps you didn't notice that I said "friends", not friends. Nor I referred to myself anywhere in this post or in my previous posts in 4+ months. Projection doesn't make up for a good debating, but the truth surely hurts. And yes, I do find certain in-group practices on LT sickening and insulting to others.

No you didn't. Why should I care about what internet personas are saying?
Some folks are grumpy, some sore, some rude, why should I care?
I've been on LT for less than a year, but it is enough to see that your constant posts about lack of thanks did enough damage to the Russian sub-forum. Maybe it's time to stop it and work on a new avatar?

I am relatively new to the site, but I have noticed too, that if the song is really popular at the moment, or sang in a way that words are not really legible, it gets lots of views/reads.
My only issue is with general etiquette. If you requested a translation, you should thank the person who provided that translation. Otherwise, it seems like lack of manners. But this is just my humble opinion.

The number of likes does not determine the quality of translations. The number of views depends on the popularity of the song.

Even setting tags for translation does not guarantee that the translation matches the tags. Tags are even more misleading. I've given up tags now.

Yes, I've noticed a slight decline in the number of views. But how does it affect our work here?

I think users should identify their priorities. If one wants hits and thanks they should hunt for the latest rap, Korean or Hindi songs, transcribe and translate them. Or you may translate what appeals to you. My best translation ever of my most loved poem has 54 hits - because that's not everybody's poem while another Hindi song (which I also love) 200K. But that makes no difference to me. We love our children equally.

A bit off-top to cheer you up.

I've taken up a group of 4 year-olds. Besides being absolutely happy with singing their English songs, playing and counting to ten, they never forget to complain. "Why did you give that red pencil to Garry? You love him more than me.... M'am, I want to be the bunny, not Stanley..." And I always hear myself thinking 'Hmm. Rings the bell, doesn't it?' St. Sol has just pointed to the cause of this decline. A cabale begins to take over using the like-addiction bait and freedom is gone:
hight time lo go leave the country. The ruling juntas notice when you are rising fast and become a threat to them.
You correct a mistake: there's a sudden barrage by the ruling clan. A moderator just asks you "remove your rating or else..."
Then, there's a ganging on you: the clan tries to shatter your morale; wait for a "bad- mannered" answer that gets you blocked.... Reporting the bullying? The answer is "We, moderators are just a step below administrators, and they rely on us".... (These quotes are verbatim") .
The funny thing is people live online, and think they rule the world....a virtual world and you can easily leave a virtual country riddled with Cosa Nostra activity. It´s even funnier as you watch their rows of medals: they are meant to overwhelm...but the first thing that springs to your mind is old Leonid Brezniev with his huge peaked cup, surrounded by the party's gerontocrats.

Yeah. It took me two weeks to realize how things are done over here. Clan ruling and Big Member ganging: "remove your (bad) rating or Mods...." - That´s a verbatim request from a Moderator to protect his cronies. And the guy is right here, in this same thread...
Maybe this is the last I can write... I´ve already been warned and asked to remove a negative rating. The answer? Go ahead and do it: there are other sites where Cosa Nostra law still don´t rule. But mind it: clan rule never lasts in a country; they are seeding their own destruction. Nobody wants to live in a dictatorship. So, that´s why this site has declined. Some members shamelessly claim to manage 30 languages, including Sumerian. And fill this site with trash-lations...
"Give me liberty or give me death" - This statement triggered the US independence war.

The original point of discussion has been long clarified - there's no way to establish relations between page views and other stuff (specially because it depends on several circumstances - per indicated in comment #7). Thread closed.
