Green Fields

Once there were green fields kissed by the sun
Once there were valleys where rivers used to run
Once there were blue skies with white clouds high above
Once they were part of an everlasting love
We were the lovers who strolled through green fields
Green fields are gone now, parched by the sun
Gone from the valleys where rivers used to run
Gone with the cold wind that swept into my heart
Gone with the lovers who let their dreams depart
Where are the green fields that we used to roam
I'll never know what made you run away
How can I keep searching when dark clouds hide the day
I only know there's nothing here for me
Nothing in this wide world, left for me to see
Still I'll keep on waiting until you return
I'll keep on waiting until the day you learn
You can't be happy while your heart's on the roam
You can't be happy until you bring it home
Home to the green fields and me once again

I discovered this song and its wonderful artist yesterday - so much music is out there to discover! I couldn't put it better than [@Vladimir4757] "To me, music is a form of speech, and just like speech, music should be heard to all regardless of barriers in place. So by translating you're letting other people open up to a world that is alien to them, a world where many who listen to the Russian, German and French music I listen to, is not strange or weird because they do not understand what the singer is singing. By having translations music can share cultural and political ideas, or really just ideas, around without barrier, and allow for discussion over meaning and purpose instead of trivial pursuit." ...I love Trivial Pursuit...  Tongue smile

THis song reminds me of Sorry .. if intruding , just had to say that .. for me it has the same vibe somehow ..Both beautiful songs .. mesmerising even. And yes music should and has no bariers of language summarising your sayings from that comment in few words Music= feelings = state of mind and spiritual food ..

Somehow i think there's few mistakes in 1st paragrapgh ..
i keep hearing on audio "They were" Doesn;t quite fit but .. is what i hear

I think only the last line of the 1st verse has “they” - the rest are there were.
Love this song!

D, we knew this song as a Russian version performed by Edita Piekha. Thought you would be interested in this version too. It’s from 1960s.

Thanks Irina ! The song sounds the same but slightly different at the same time Regular smile . I couldn t find some better audio yet .. it would ve been great .
And i'm glad of course you like the poetry i write , i try to stay a honest person and i won't say that i fully understand all the languages in which i make requests, but most of them are dear to me, and of course the point is to share i have some of my poems on a blog too but there isn t a site for them to be voiced in different ways and persspectives ...

That being said i am thankful and grateful to each person that found space in their time, heart to be found of some of them and put their vision on them on paper. So once again thanks and hope to hear only good Regular smile
